Amazing Assembly

Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends

My name is Erin and I am a pupil from primary 5. Recently my class performed an assembly and I thought it would be great to update you on this through our class blog.

Last year we didn`t have an assembly but Mrs Burk decided to bring them back as it is a great way to show and tell parents what  we have learned in our class. This assembly took place on the 8th of November, the topic we did our assembly on was Germany .We were lucky that so many people turned up to watch it.

This year teachers and their pupils decided on the format. Some had learning stations where pupils shared information on a variety of topics.  In primary 5 we chose to focus one topic and presented this as a mini performance.

Our assembly was a blast, we had a drama sketch to keep our audience interested and lots of facts so the audience could learn something too .We had 2 songs , one to wake us up and the other one linked with the drama sketch.

After our assembly we got a drink and a biscuit .Then we got to talk to our parents about the assembly and discuss our learning further.

Thank you for reading this blog and there is a feedback sheet to let us know what you thought of our assembly.

our weekend fun

We are reading a book called Iron Man. We learned that he was eating all the metal and iron and they buried the iron man.  The little boy was feeling  sad about the Iron Man but the other farmers weren’t feeling sad, they felt happy.

We have also been doing maths. We have been revising  addition, times tables and take away.

In  P.E we did races, games and Jump Start Johnny .Next week we are doing basketball.

We have been learning German with Mrs white. We learned how to speak in  German,  it was really fun.  We played a game called German boggle, it’s where you have to say a German word and if you get the wrong answer you’re out.

Our topic this term is Germany.

Healthy snacks!

During health week we made some delicious healthy snacks.  They were really easy and really tasty….especially on a hot day.

We chose a yoghurt and put it into our cupcake holder.  Next we cut up our chosen fruit and added it to the top.  We put these in the freezer for a few hours and ate them in the afternoon.  They were yummy!

Beat the Street

To kick off health week we did Beat the Street.

Beat the street is a healthy activity . You have a fob. The fob has points on it that you save up to get more points .

There are boxes of beat the street all over north Lanarkshire and if you put your fob against the box you will get more and more points and it bleeps and flashes.

Beat the street gets you going and active.👍 It also gets you points for your school!

It’s fun and you are more active. You get a chance to go out for a walk -you can cycle , run , walk , scooter , roller skate to each box . The places you get the boxes in the tap your fob against is Chryston , Stepps ,St Barbara,s and some other places .

There are only two in Chryston but it’s still fun to walk round and use your fob.

Yesterday we went as a class and got two of the boxes. If we walk from here to St Barbara’s we get two boxes.

SSPCA

The SSPCA came to talk with us about how we can help animals stay alive and protect them in their environment.

Don’t drop litter
don’t put milk out it is the worst thing for animals
make a den for the animals that don’t have a home to live in
Don’t give ducks bread well you can but it does not have enough good stuff in it try give them frozen pees 🐥
Don’t touch wild animals especially babies
If you see a hurt animal, call the SSPCA

We played a version of trivial pursuit that helped us learn more about animals and their environment.

Dawn from the SSPCA was really interesting!
