Here we are having some fun, dancing and keeping fit in the class. We were hoping for some Jump Start Johnny but instead found the skeleton dance. This brought back some memories of work we did on the Skeleton last term.
Class Trip to Robert Burns Birthplace Museum
We had a super trip to Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. Have a look at all the things we got up to when we were there. See if you can spot the scary witch that we encountered at the Auld Kirk.
Using a Quill Pen
Today we wrote out “The Selkirk Grace” by Robert Burns using an authentic quill pen. Â We used food colouring mixed with a little water to get a variety of coloursto dip our quill into. We were really surprised at how strong the colours were and at how well our work looked.
Venn Diagrams
We have learned a lot about different ways of gathering and displaying information. This week we have been learning about Venn diagrams. We really enjoyed sorting items using a Venn diagram and we were very good at it!
Highland Games
Check out the pictures of P3/4 having fun trying out their own adaptation of activities played at a typical Highland Games event.
Burns Celebration
Today was our Burns celebration and we all got the opportunity to taste a variety of Scottish food such as:
- Cock-a- leekie soup.
- Haggis, Neeps and Tatties.
- Cranachan.
- Cheese and Crackers.
- And Lees factory chocolate and macaroon
After this we created a tally chart of our favourite food. A great day was had by all.
Phoneme Spelling
Here we are playing a great game that helps us learn our phoneme words.
Tam O’Shanter
Here we are listening to Tam O’Shanter and taking notes on our white boards.
We are really enjoying our Scottish Culture topic and  are very excited about our trip to see Burn’s cottage. More details about the trip will be sent out soon.
Information Handling
This week we discussed the different ways in which we use data.
We started by doing a survey on our favourite type of film. We gathered the information using a tally chart. Then we made a bar graph using the information from the tally chart.
We also had fun creating bar graphs using coloured cubes and we played interactive games on the smartboard and the iPad.
Check out our pictures below!
Games Played in the 70’s
To finish off our topic on the 70’s we had a go at some of the games that were played during that era.
To warm up our muscles we played Britsh Bulldog and Farmer, Farmer.
We then had a go at skipping, using hula hoops, hopscotch (using shoes polish tins and cones as we couldn’t possible draw on the floor!!), a ball inside a sock which we almost demolished the school with and elastic ropes!!
Great fun!!
