Wie spät ist es? Telling time in German.

It is very easy to tell the time in German as long as you can say the numbers.

So the easiest way to do it is ask the question:

Wie spät ist es?                    What is the time?

As long as the clock shows an hour eg three O’clock, the  answer is:

Es ist drei Uhr.                              It is three O’clock.

Germans use a twenty four hour system..but we are only going up to midday at the moment! Have fun!

Sum Dog Time Again

We are looking forward to facing the challenge with our new class.  The children have been practicing very hard this week, sharpening their skills and are now ready to go.

Many of them have been accessing Sum Dog at home and we would encourage you as parents to check it out with your children .

Our aim is to get our names as high up the leader board as we can.

Looking forward to sharing our results with you.

Sumdog Competition

We are taking part in the North Lanarkshire Sumdog Competition, which is on this week.

We had a check of the leader board first thing this morning and were delighted to discover that we were in third place, behind Orchard Primary, Mrs Woodward’school.

Our starter task this morning was to work on the Sumdog competition and then we had some Maths tests to do. So we were very excited to find that when we checked back in again at break time, we were in first place!!

The competition is all about getting as many correct answers as possible. So we are very proud of getting that top slot today. There are still 3 days of competition left..but tonight…our class are top dog!

Mosque Visit

What a fabulous tour we had yesterday at Glasgow Central Mosque. We were shown some wonderful things that we had been learning  about from our work with Mrs Hashmi in our classroom. We asked lots of really good questions and were able to touch, see and use things she had told us about.

Here are some of the photos from the trip so you can share in our learning too.

We all want to have a big table like this one in our classroom. It was in the boardroom and we got to have our lunch sitting round it!

Golf

For the past few weeks we have been developing our golf skills.

Today we got the opportunity to use the big safety net which meant we could hit the ball as hard as we could without hurting anyone.

We are really enjoying the golf and are hoping to visit Crow Wood, our local golf course, sometime in the near future.

Sound – Kazoo

The children have been really enjoying learning about sound.

Their latest focus has been on vibration and pitch. To show changes in pitch they were asked to make a Kazoo from a straw.

They were then given the task of cutting the straw (Kazoo) when still blowing it, in order to identify if size makes a difference to the pitch.

Check out the little video of their efforts!!
