Rounding Up in Maths

We have been doing a thing called ‘Rounding Up’ in Maths.

This means if you have a number that ends with 1, 2, 3 or 4 you round down to the nearest 10 eg if you were rounding 53, you would round it down to 50.

If you have a number that ends with 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 you round it up to the next 10 eg if you were rounding  56, you would round it up to 60.

We have had fun doing it and we played a great game called the ‘Up and Down ‘ game.

You can also round up and down in 100s and all the other numbers you can think of. We have not yet managed to round up or down in millions…..that is for next week!!
