Our Learning So Far!

We have had a very busy first few weeks in Primary 2/3 and are only just finding time to update our blog! Read on to find out about some of the things we have been doing.

Our class book for the first few weeks was ‘Owly’ by Andy Runton. We used this as inspiration to create owl-themed artwork which we really enjoyed.

We have also been working hard on our Number work and learning to work together to help us learn better. We are getting on well and settling in together as a little ‘class family’ 🙂

Have a look at our pictures to see some of the fun we have been having – inlcuding biscuit making and decorating as our Golden Time treat!

More lovely learning updates to come next week – make sure you check back here.

Ava: The class all went into the mine.  I loved the park because it had the spider net.

Ethan: The class had a good time at Summerlee doing all the fun stuff and looking at inventions and playing toys.  I liked the mine and I learned a lot about what used to happen in the mine and about Victorian rules in school.

Erin : I didn’t like the mine that much.  I had fun.

Lauren: We went into the play park and I lay on a tiny hammock.

William : I loved the mine.

Lucy: I liked Summerlee, out of all my trips it was my favourite.

Aaron: I loved the shop.

Aydin : It was really fun.  Out of all the trips from P1 – P3 it was the most fun.  Learning about Victorian ages was really fun.

Amy: I fell at the park 🙁 Noah : So did I.

Amy: I didn’t like the Victorian rules at all.

Kevin: The mine was scary and fun and it was muddy.

Eilidh: Some people thought the mine was scary but I thought it was fun.  I liked the zip line and spider net because it was fun and I liked the mine and the museum because I learned about new inventions in the museum.

Riley: The mine was very dark but I liked it.  When I left my eyes were very sore because of the light.

Conor: I liked the park.

Eva: I didn’t like the mannequins that were in the mine.  I liked the zip line in the park.

James: I loved the park.

Craig: The mine was super super dark and scary and when I went out I burned my eyes.

David: I think Summerlee was very good and the mine, the tram, and the shop was fun.  I bought a sword and it was gold and silver.

Amy: It’s not about winning it’s about having fun.

Erin : My favourite race was the hurdles.

Noah : I won three gold medals.

Craig: In the beanbag race I came first once and that is why I love it.  When I came first I launched passed Kevin and ran like a mad man!

David: I liked the flat race and the hurdles and the beanbag race but the hurdles always made me fall because I’m REALLY BAD AT JUMPING THEM.  I won a sticker.

Marcus: I won two silver medals for the flat race and the hurdles.

Riley: I did enjoy sports day but I preferred it in P2.

Aydin: It was really fun and I really enjoyed the races.

Eilidh: I won a gold medal and 1st place sticker and a 2nd place sticker.

Klea: I tried my best to win but I didn’t, and I still had fun.

James: I got a sticker.

Lucy : It was my first time and I thought it was good fun.

Kevin : I got a bronze medal and it was very fun to do, it gave me exercise.  All of us were tired.

Eva: I didn’t enjoy it.

Lauren : I didn’t enjoy it either.

Bike week/Health week

We brought in scooters and bikes today to help us get more active, some of us cycled to school instead of taking the car.  Well done!

Before we went out we watched a bike safety film, always stay safe and wear a helmet.

P3 have some very kind children who shared their bikes/scooters with friends who didn’t bring one.

Afterwards we came in and began some amazing designs for either a bike for the future or a bike to tour the world! Some very creative ideas P3 🙂

P3 can cook!

After doing a bit of excellent multiplication (the recipe was for a class of 6 I used to teach!) we spent the afternoon making hummus which we served with salad and pitta bread.

It got a mixed reaction, all the staff who tried it loved it and probably half the class did too.  Everyone had fun making it.  The recipe was sent home if you’d like to try making it 🙂

Ethan : Food was very nice and it was a little bit too spicy for some of us.  I love spicy food!

Craig : This food smelled bad but it tasted nice.

Lucy : I liked it and everybody took part so I think it was a good afternoon.

Kevin : It took a long time.

Erin : It was fun putting the bread in the toaster.  I love lettuce!

Riley : The hummus was very spicy but I liked the vegetables.  I liked putting the lettuce in the plastic thing to dry it because it went very fast.

Noah : I love cucumber!  I got to chop tomatoes at Amy and Aaron’s group.

Eva : It was fun to make with your friends.

Aydin : It was really spicy and it was really nice with the cucumber.

Eilidh : The bread was my favourite part.

Amy : I kept on stealing the lettuce from Noah and Riley!  I liked it when I got to turn the blender on and off again.

Aaron : I had to run down the corridor for a drink.

Lauren: Some people didn’t like the hummus because it was too spicy.  I think it was too spicy.  I wanted to eat the lemons!

Klea : Some people thought it was spicy but I didn’t.

David : I like the bit where me and Marcus and Ava and Daryll squeezed the lemons.  I also liked the lettuce, cucumber, bread and tomatoes.  I think it was a wee bit spicy but I ate it and it was delicious.

Ava : Me, Marcus and David were all eating the lemon juice and we didn’t think it was sour!

Sumdog

I hope you are all enjoying the trial of Sumdog, someone in our class is sitting at 15th across North Lanarkshire this week with 90% accuracy 🙂 Well done!

Mobile Adventure Course

Erin – We did the assault course. It was very fun.
Riley – We went on the assault course. There was a big wall that was quite hard to go on.
Craig – on the obstacle course there was a wall, a bridge, a rope and a tyre.
David – The assault course was very fun to play on. Johnny and Lee helped us on the big wall and they helped us with the big rope line and they were good managers.
Aydin – it was really tiring. It tired me out.
Ethan – We were with p2 to do the obstacle course. We had a hard time trying to get over the wall for some us and we had great fun.
David – all of the P2 and P3 were really good and they were fantastic and excellent at the wall.
Erin – Miss Kirk had a go at the assault course.
Aaron – Miss Langridge did the assault course too.
Noah – I thought you were good at it Miss Kirk
Riley – I had to take my glasses off in case they fell off on the course.
David – the 2 teachers were the best.
Amy – Overall I think everybody had fun.
