Being a good friend

Last week we were discussing what makes a good friend.

We worked in pairs to decide on a word that describes a good friend. Today we used sponges to paint our words onto black paper. These will look great when they are dry and Miss McGregor said she will put them on display for everyone to see.

Super sandwiches

Today we made some delicious sandwiches in class as part of our bread topic. We made cheese sandwiches and tuna sandwiches. They were lovely.

First we had to spread the butter and cream cheese on our bread, we also added cucumber, which we tried to slice nice and thin. After we added our topping we cut our sandwiches into half and then quarters. We tried to keep some to take home, but they were very tasty.

Here are some pictures of us enjoying our sandwiches in class.

Scottish artwork

Primary 3 have been very busy during Scottish month making some fantastic art work.

We made some collage pigeons. We had to draw the pigeons first and then stick on some different coloured crepe paper.

We also made our won kilts. We painted the tartan and then we cut out and attached some black and gold belts-they look amazing.

It was really fun making our little Scottish men. We had to cut all of the Scottish mans outfit out and stick it together, this was another chance for us to design our own tartan.

We learned how to draw a thistle. It was tricky but they turned out great.

Rabbie Burns

Yesterday was Robert Burns day. We celebrate Robert burns on the 25TH January as he was born on the 25th January 1721.

Robert Burns is famous for his poems. We listened to two of his poems toady. We really liked ‘To a mouse’ and we were able to hear the translation of ‘Address to a Haggis’. On Rabbie Burns day people around the world celebrate his life by wearing Scottish clothes, like kilts, and eating Scottish food like Haggis, Neeps and Tatties. People also eat shortbread, we got to try some toast and it was delicious.

Primary 3s bread making

imageThis week we baked bread. We had to prepare the bread and Mrs McArthur put it in the oven to bake.

We had to discuss the rules that we made last week and follow them when we were making bread.

Magic maths

This week we have been learning about expressions and equations. An equation is when two sums are equal. If the sums are not equal you add the non equal sign.
We learned how to write the non equal sign.
It is an equal sign with a diagonal line through it (Hannah).
We know the greater than sign > and the less than sign 71 (Alfie)

10 < 20 (Joey and Jaeden)

We have been learning how to balance out two sums. If they have the equals sign they must be the same at each side.

53 + 7 = 59 + 1 (Jenna).
