Bobath Scotland Visitor

On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Julie who works for Bobath Scotland delivering therapy to people with Cerebral Palsy (CP). All the children really enjoyed the session and would like to share some of their learning/most enjoyable parts.

Leah – I learned that if you get Cerebral Palsy it can affect your brain.

Olivia – If you have Cerebral Palsy it can give you sore legs and you might need splints.

Cole – Cerebral Palsy can affect half your body sometimes. It is good to go to Bobath for help.

Eilidh – If you’ve got Cerebral Palsy it can affect your arm so you can’t bend it to eat so you can get a bendy spoon to help you. If they can’t feed themselves they can use a special tool to help them.

Iona – If you have Cerebral Palsy it will affect your movement.

Lilly – You get diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy usually when you are about 2 years old.

Amelie – You realise your baby might have Cerebral Palsy when they aren’t crawling at the age they should be.

Harrison – You are more likely to have Cerebral Palsy if you are born under 28 weeks.

Katie – If you are born early you could end up with Cerebral Palsy.

Callan – Sometimes you can’t eat with your mouth so you get a tube that goes into your tummy.

Blake – Cerebral Palsy affects your brain. If they can’t speak they can use a special button to help.

Jessica – Cerebral Palsy can sometimes affect your whole body.

Jack S – Some people with Cerebral Palsy use a lycra suit and a splint.

Jack C – I enjoyed playing with the penguin toy.

Olivia – I enjoyed playing with the penguin toy too. It is used to help see if babies with CP are tracking with their eyes.

Lucy – Some people with CP need a wheelchair.

Erika – Some people who have CP need walking sticks.

Zak – I really enjoyed recorded my voice using the special button.

Kobi – People sometimes blink to communicate.

Aaron – Some people that have CP have to go to Bobath Scotland for therapy.

Zara – You get a special spoon if you can’t use your hands propely if your bone is a different shape.

Millie – I enjoyed getting to use the voice button.

Alaina – If you can’t talk if you have CP you might use sign language.

Sonny – Only 5 children go to Bobath babies.

Lewis – Around 150 children are diagnosed with CP every year in Scotland.
