Naming parts of our Face!

Yesterday afternoon we had Mrs Cornwell in our class because Miss Kinloch was at a meeting in another building. Mrs Cornwell did some drama with us in class and then we started our new health and wellbeing topic all about naming parts of our body. Mrs Cornwell had a big picture of Miss Kinloch’s face and we had to name the parts of her face. Mrs Cornwell used a pen wrote ALL over Miss Kinloch’s face! It was all a bit silly and very funny! We learned that the black part in the middle of our eyes is called a pupil!

On Wednesday we sorted our pictures. We sorted them into Living and Non Living. We know that some Non-Living things used to be Living like the bee house used to be a tree!

Sharing our Reading

Today we did something a little bit different for reading! Because it was a bit of a mixed up week we did not get new reading books but instead we read our book to a partner from another reading group so we got to read different books!

We practiced these skills…

Reading, working together, listening, taking turns and work attack strategies!

Grufallos were sharing their books ‘Help us, Harry!’ and ‘The Magic Boots’

Elmers were sharing their books ‘Growing’ and ‘Hungry Hedgehog’

Cat in the Hats 1 were sharing their book ‘A troop of little dinosaurs’

And Cat in the Hats 2 were sharing their book ‘Nelson gets a fright’

We liked…

working with a partner – Jack

taking turns – Mya

getting to know another book – Nieve

reading to a partner – Conor M

learning new words in a new book – Katie

Please look at our pictures of us reading! We love reading your comments,

P2’s Poem!

Today Primary Two wrote a poem. (But they did not know it was a poem!) We all had a look at a picture. There was a farm in the picture. First we had to do our date but not our title! We had to pick 5 nouns to start with and they went in the middle. Then we got into groups to describe the 5 things we picked. We finished the sentence by writing what the noun was doing in the picture.

This is P2’s farm poem…

Division through Sharing

This week Primary Two have been learning all about division.

They worked through 4 different stations to experience sharing in groups.

One of the stations had us using play dough. We had cards that had pictures of what we had to make and share on the card.

At another station we had the sorting bears and the sorting trays. We had a partner and they would ask us to split the bears into groups. The partners were to try and make it hard to solve.

We were also using using the SMART board to play a game about sorting sweeties. We had to count how many there was to start and then we took turns sharing them into different numbers of bags.

At the last station we had some cards which showed pictures and other cards that said ‘Half is’. We had to match the correct two cards together. We got very good at this so we had a race to test our partners!

Check us out hard at work…

P2 are off to the Co-op!

Today we went to visit the Co-op. To get there we had to walk through the village of Chryston. Before we got to the Co-op we saw the park, cars, plants and bins.
image

In the Co-op we saw Dairy products. Adam saw Milk. Erin saw butter. Jack saw cheese. Nieve saw cream. We know all about dairy products because we have been learning the Story of Milk with Mrs Bokas.

image

We saw all different types of food at the Co-op some of them were; sweets, crisps, ice-cream, dog food, cereal, ice-lollies, chicken and biscuits.

We got to look all around the shop but we knew not to touch the things we saw. Amy saw the cashier taking the money at the till. Adam saw shop assistants and they were doing work. Jack saw the shop keeper and their job is to look after the whole shop. Nieve saw the workers stocking the shelfs. Jennie saw some customers.

Primary Two want to say a massive thank you to the Co-op for letting us visit. We all had a great time and found it very interesting for their topic of Shopping!

We hope you like our pictures and please leave a comment!

Today Primary Two were very lucky to have some furry visitors from Briarland Farm.

They were all very cute and we got to clap them and look at them up close.

Our favourite parts were:

When I got to clap them – Emma

When the animals came in – Amy

When I got to see the rabbit – Adam

When the animals came out of their case – Callum I

When I clapped the baby chick – Nieve

When I got to clap Alfie – Laya

When she pulled the chick out of her pocket – Lauryn

We had to remember to wash our hands after we’d finished!

We can’t wait to go visit Briarland Farm in June!

We tried online shopping!

Yesterday afternoon we got to try online shopping. We used the laptops with partners or in trios. We were doing this as part of our topic called Shops and Shopping. We wanted to find out more about shopping online.

We had to use Google to find the website. We went on to the Tesco Website and looked at Groceries. Then we clicked on the red button which said Half price offers.

We learned how to…

buy things online

press the add to basket button

find different types of food

find our favourite food

Please have a look at our pictures of us looking at Tesco Online shop.

We would love to read your comments!
