2nd yr Art & Design

In S2 the Art & Design course allows pupils build upon the skills and experiences that were gained in S1. Drawing continues to be central to the development of pupil ability. Pupils will also be introduced to the concept of abstract art and be given the opportunity to produce successful work that is not bound by the constraints of realism. There are three projects that S2 will pupils complete throughout the year. Each of these projects will continue to develop a wide range of practical  skills and activities. Pupils will further develop their critical thinking and analysis skills gained in S1 through studying the work of successful artists and designers with more in-depth analysis of the visual elements and design issues.

The three projects that will be followed in S2 Art & Design are as follows:

  • Textile Pattern Design – Click here for Image Gallery
  • Figure Composition – Click here for Image Gallery
  • Landscape – Click here for Image Gallery

Each of the above projects will enable pupils to refine their artisic skills and abilities by continuing to focus on how to use the visual elements to best effect in the production of their work.

Pupils will also be issued with a homework sketchbook detailing itemised drawing and research tasks to support the learning throughout the year. Homework tasks are issued on a weekly basis and will be issued by the class teacher.
