P1/2 Interview Mrs Shevlin
Primary 1/2 came up with some super questions to ask Mrs Shevlin what Kilsyth was like when she was a little girl.
We learned that there was once a shoe shop in Kilsyth and a clothes shop. The Scarecrow was a shop where you went in one way and came out another way.
The park was still at Burngreen and they had bikes, tennis and pitch and putt just like we have now. Back then, there was a paddling pool and families would go there with a picnic.
A lot of houses that are in Kilsyth now were newly built at the time. Mrs Shevlin lived in a flat with three bedrooms. Her mum would sit out the front while Mrs Shevlin and her family played. They moved to another house with a back and front door. Then they had their own garden. Mrs Shevlin was 7 years old when she got out to play, watched by her mother.
There were cars, but not as many as we have now. They didn’t have electric windows, you had to roll down the window. They didn’t have keys that beeped, you had to open them with the key.
School was in a much older building, and it isn’t there now because a new one has been built. Mrs Shevlin had her own desk that opened up to keep all her books in. They didn’t have iPads or computers.
The good news is, that Mrs Shevlin was on the good list and Santa did visit her! It turns out, somethings don’t change after all! 🙂
St Andrews Day
P1/2 had a fun afternoon learning about St Andrew, designing their own tartan and dancing to some Scottish music.
Fire Training
Pancakes and hot chocolate around the fire, perfect for a lovely winter afternoon outdoors.
