Congratulations to Jemma in S4, who won second prize with her dog, Nell, in the Young Kennel Club obedience competition at the Scottish Dog Show on Sunday.
The Show was held at the Royal Highland Showground in Ingliston.

Orienteering
Orienteering Club started again last week and a great adventure was had by all! Special mention to Mrs Cupples who made an impressive debut, winning second place.
S2 pupils Jordan, Ross & Jamie also participated in the Team Scotland selection race on Sunday and acquitted themselves well in the face of some serious competition. Well done, boys!
Success at Royal Conservatoire
Congratulations to Ewan Ferguson in S6 has been awarded a place on the Transitions 20/40 Dance programme at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Ewan successfully attended two auditions before he was awarded a place and will now undertake training at the Royal Conservatoire every weekend.
Transitions 20/40 offers specialist training and mentoring to young people who are interested in pursuing a career in professional dance – they must demonstrate ability and potential, together with the necessary commitment and determination to study dance at a high level.
Well done, Ewan!
Golf Champion
Congratulations to S6 pupil, Eilidh Crawford, on her recent golfing successes.
Eilidh won the The Stephen Gallacher Scratch Trophy at the East of Scotland Summer Meeting and went on to win the East of Scotland Girls’ Championship the next day!
As well as forming part of the Mid Lothian girls’ team who won the Cuthbertson Cup, she was also part of the team who won the Scratch Trophy at the Morison Millar event.
Eilidh has also been invited to play in a friendly with the East team against a Spanish international team.

Shana accepted for Royal Conservatoire Summer School
Congratulations to Shana, who has been selected for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland summer school. Shana will have an opportunity to learn from guest artists such as Nicola Benedetti, Sir James McMillan, Jessica Cottis, Lisa Milne, Patricia McMahon, Tommy Smith and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
North Lanarkshire Athletics Championships 2
Well done to all our pupils who participated in the second part of the North Lanarkshire Athletics Championships, including Caitlyn, who won a gold medal in the discus!
Scottish Schools Orienteering Festival
Pupils from Calderhead High School participated in the Scottish Schools Orienteering Festival on Friday, 3rd June at Dalkeith Country Park.
Congratulations to the S1 boys team who finished 4th at the Scottish Schools orienteering festival, and special mention to Jordan Muir who was 4th in the S1 boys race.

Pupil Success – Caleb
Congratulations to S5 pupil, Caleb Hariri, who has gained a Nuffield Research Placement at the University of Glasgow this summer. He will be part of a team investigating how stem cells convert to fat cells. This is a leading edge research project on the control of Diabetes.
Prior to this he will taking part for a week in the REACH Medical programme for aspiring medical doctors, also at University of Glasgow.
S3 Arts and Employability
The S3 Achieve Group were awarded an achievement certificate at St Ambrose High School for their excellent Arts & Employability project on special effects makeup.
Cross Country Success
Congratulations to Scott and Jamie who recently won trophies at the Law&DistrictAAC race at Carluke. Well done boys!
