VOLUNTEER group Hands Across Shotts started earlier this year and hold weekly meetings at Calderhead High School to discuss how they can improve standards for special needs kids in the community. The committee, which is made up of parents and those who have family members with disabilities, want to ensure the children get a fair shot in life.
The Group recently helped get a disabled swing installed at the play park and their next aim is to enable children to participate in Shotts Highland Games next year.
Co-chairperson Allison Hanley said: “We really want everyone to be able to get the full experience of the highland games, regardless of physical activity.”
