Due to lockdown last year, we were unable to hold our annual prizegiving last summer but we held a belated socially distanced award ceremony in the Assembly Hall in the school yesterday.
We plan to celebrate 2021’s awards later this year, when the pandemic restrictions will (hopefully) have abated.
Congratulations to all our prize winners, as detailed in the attached list.
We are very sad to report the tragic passing of S4 pupil Jay Gallacher on Saturday night.
“Jay was a lovely pupil and we are all devastated by this tragic news. Jay was in S4 and had just finished his Nat 5 assessments in all seven subjects and was about to make his course choices for S5 this week. He was proud of his achievements and had a bright future ahead of him.
He will be missed by everyone who knew him and our thoughts are with his friends and family. We will provide our full support to pupils and staff in the days and weeks ahead.”

We fully anticipate pupils will be wearing full uniform for the start of the new session in August 2021. Blazers and sports t shirts (for PE in House colours with school badge) can be purchased on-line from Academy Uniforms.

We look forward to welcoming all pupils back tomorrow, Monday 19th April. It is a Blue Timetable week, so pupils should bring materials for Periods 2, 4, 5 & 7 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesday and Friday it is Periods 2, 4, 6.
Similar to the three weeks before the Easter Break we intend to ask pupils to socialise outside this term when not in class. This is a highly recommended measure to keep pupils safe at this time.
Calderhead High School senior pupils agreed to get together to record their message of hope for everyone affected by the 2021 lockdown. Their message is simple…‘See you again’
We are very proud of our extremely talented pupils and staff and we look forward to seeing everyone again.
Have a great Easter break.
Please find attached the Assessment Calendar, which will be used at Calderhead after the Easter holidays.
After consultation with pupils and staff it was decided that all Assessments will take in class at normal timetabled times. We hope that this will give all pupils the opportunity to attain the best results possible for each subject.
At first glance the Calendar looks to have a lot of Assessments on it, but each pupil should highlight only the Assessments that they are sitting and this will make it relevant to them.
If anyone has any questions about the Calendar please feel free to call me at the school.
Kind regards,
Gordon Graham
Depute Head Teacher
Please see the latest letter from Derek Brown, Executive Director, Education and Families, regarding the SQA assessment and qualifications this year:
You may be aware that the Lateral Flow Device, LFD, testing programme has been expanded to include S1-3 pupils after the Easter break. This is a voluntary scheme to helps to identify those who have contracted Covid 19 but do not have any symptoms.
We have been informed today that on Tuesday, 23rd March, Jason Leitch, in partnership with Young Scot, will be hosting two live Q&A sessions for young people regarding the testing programme. The first event will take place at 13:30 for S1-S3 pupils and there will be a further session with S4-S6 pupils at 16:30. The live events will be held on e-Sgoil so that any pupil across Scotland can access. We hope to share links to these recorded sessions after the event.
Further information is available at http://www.e-sgoil.com/lockdown-live/
