School Calendar for session 2022/2023
Calendar 22-23 Parent Carer version
The link above takes you to the School Calendar for this session. This includes the dates for all Parents’ Nights, Tracking Reports and Full Reports. It also includes when the official school holidays are. The S4 Prelims begin on the 12th of December and the S5/6 Prelims are scheduled to begin on the 8th February. The SQA exams will begin on Monday 24th April 2023 and finish on the 31st May 2023, as yet we do not know the exact days of each exam.
Postponement of Prelim Exams scheduled for Friday 18th February
The Prelim Exams scheduled for Friday 18th February have been postponed until Tuesday 22nd February due to the weather warning issued by the Met Office. “Storm Eunice may cause disruption due to heavy snow and some strong winds on Friday.” The warning is in place from 0300-1800 on Friday.
This should ensure that the pupils and invigilators have a stress free journey on Tuesday prior to these important exams.
Calderhead High School Handbook 2022
We are delighted to publish our Handbook for session 2022/2023. Each year we update it with new photographs, holiday dates, the current staff list etc. The School Captains, Kayla and Kenzie, have written a welcome page for all the P7 pupils who will be our new S1 pupils in August. They share their own experiences of being in P7 about to move to a new building and how it has worked out well for them. Hopefully, if you are in Primary 7 you will recognise older pupils in the many photographs who also attended your Primary School. Soon it will be your turn to be enjoying adventures and many new experiences at Calderhead High School. We look forward to welcoming you in August.

Letter to Parents/Carers from National Clinical Director, Professor Jason Leitch
The letter below is addressed to Parents/Carers of school age children. It is dated 16 September 2021.
Letter from Dr John Logan, Department of Public Health
The letter below sets out the new arrangements for COVID-19 positive cases. The major change is that Test and Protect will solely handle the close contact situation and be responsible for making contact with pupils.
Another change is the definition of a close contact
“Your child would only be identified as a contact if they have had prolonged close contact with the case (someone who tests positive for COVID-19) – e.g. same household, overnight stays.”

Letters from Jason Leitch (National Clinical Director) and John Swinney (Depute First Minister)
Today both Jason Leitch, National Clinical Director for the Scottish Government, and John Swinney, Depute First Minister, have written open letters to parents and carers regarding COVID 19 testing.

We will reopen for S1 & S4/5/6 pupils on Friday 13th August.
We are delighted to confirm that the school will be open for S1, S4, S5, S6 pupils on Thursday 13th August as previously intimated. We had some water damage due to the substantial rainfall in the area. Contractors will be on site until 10pm, sorry in advance for any excess noise.
The behaviour of the pupils S1-3 was excellent as they waited for 2 hours in the school playground. This was not the restart to school for S2 and S3 pupils that we wanted nor was it the best way for S1 pupils to start Calderhead High School.
We were informed today that some of the bus contracts were only confirmed by SPT late yesterday afternoon, hence the lack of information about pick up points and times. We have spent a lot of time trying to support our pupils to gain these basic facts.
Due to the water damage our catering, until further notice, will be cold food to go. This will be prepared off-site.
We look forward to welcoming all pupils back on Friday 14th August.
