With the lovely winter frost weather and soon to be beautiful spring and summer weather it is important to remember the benefits, opportunities, resilience, fun and life skills we can learn during outdoor learning and forest schools. We can cook, build, make, create, think differently, find results in different ways, enjoy success and failure equally and grow as young individuals. Below is a short video to highlight some pupil work just before last years National Outdoor Learning Day.

Forest Schools – Purple Group Popcorn
With college off today the purple group had a fantastic opportunity to embark on the forest schools programme. We looked into things that catch fire and things that don’t (leaves and mud). We cleared all the dry leaves from our “ring of fire”. We learned that we never step in the “ring of fire” unless with the teacher and we only walk around it. Then when ready we prepared, cooked and ate some popcorn in the forest building life and learning skills and resilience to problems we need to tackle. Well done everyone.
Forest Schools Hammock Building
The Yellow group had a great time building a hammock at forest schools. This creates a fantastic relaxation and sensory area for pupils to enjoy during lessons. The first sign of success is failure as we can see from John falling off the hammock.

A production full of A-list Bothwellpark legends. Filmed, directed and pictured by our very own Spielberg…. Stephen Irvine. (Allow to run through once to prevent buffering of movie)
