Busy Blue Group

The Blue Group have been super busy!

We have been working on our fitness through LesMills BORN TO MOVE™ and other LesMills programs. This been supplemented with some outdoor learning around Barron’s Haugh.

The Blue Group has also been working super hard on our numeracy work. This involves consolidating numbers and working with patterns.

Before the Christmas break we went to see the Grinch and then had lunch at Frankie and Benny’s. This was very successful and the pupils loved the experience.

Outdoor Blue Group

The Blue group has had many opportunities to explore and develop their awareness of the outdoor environment (weather permitting). We have used the outdoors to develop some numeracy and literacy skills – with the added bonus of contributing to our health and wellbeing.

There will be more about this in future posts.

The Very Busy Blue Group

The Blue Group have been extremely busy since starting Bothwellpark High School. We have established effective morning routines, which has helped the young people settle in and get used to the new enviroment.

Every morning after timetabling, we engage in circle time. This helps pupils build relationships and provides a very nurturing feel to the class. We look at some Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing elements. There are some other opportunities for the young people to put learning into context

Fitness is a massive priority within schools, as it is important to keep young people active and engaged. As part of circle time, we get the young people up and active to give them the opportunity to burn some energy and calories. This also meets a large number of out Health and Wellbeing outcomes. For this we use BORN TO MOVE, a programme created by international fitness company LesMills.

We, in the Blue Group, are very active!

On Wednesday the  19th of September, it was ‘International Talk like a Pirate Day’. This is a major festival within the Pastafarian Religious of the ‘Flying Spaghetti monster’.

The pupils took part in a treasure hunt, took part in some pirate dances and songs. Every pupil successfully found a pirate treasure chest.

The next BIG festival that we will be celebrating is Diwali on Wednesday the 7th of November.

Celtic Connections

We were lucky to get more tickets for Celtic Connections on Thursday (26th January)! This week we saw performances by RCS Juniors and Braebach.

We all traveled to Glasgow Royal Concert Hall for the concert to start at 11am for just over an hour.

All of the pupils had a great time with many of them enjoying hearing the bagpipes being played in the hall!

Celtic Connections

Some pupils from Bothwellpark were given the opportunity to go into Glasgow on Thursday to watch a performance from the Celtic Connections festival at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. We watched two bands called Farra and Manran – all the pupils loved it and were up dancing during the songs! We are lucky to have tickets for another performance this Thursday (26th)!
