COVID pathways

The NHS and North Lanarkshire Council have agreed pathways for us to follow and have recently updated the guidance following the local lockdown measures. They are attached below.

As a school we are doing everything we can to stay safe and keep COVID out of our bubble.

We have some staff and children who are particularly vulnerable so it may seem to some families we are being over cautious.

I apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause, but we would rather err on the side of caution and keep everyone safe.

We appreciate everything families are doing to support us during this time.

Communicating with Families

Now that schools have returned, we are keen to continue communicating with families, but need to change what we do in line with enhanced hygiene routines.

We are no longer sending out Home-School diaries.

Here are the ways we aim to keep communication flowing between school and home.

The mobile number used during lockdown is no longer in use. Please use the school phone number – 01698 274939 – to contact us. Elaine checks the voicemail regularly throughout the day, so please leave a message if you can’t get through and we will get back to you.

You are welcome to email you child’s class teacher or the management team for information. My email address is: and I can pass messages on to the right person until you have the address you need. This will save listing all staff email addresses!

Daily updates:
• Children may bring a ‘talking tile’ home. This is a plastic voice recorder that we can send short messages home with. We can share what has been happening in class and you can send us messages back with what your child has been doing in the evening or at weekends. Your child’s class team will be able to talk you through how to work these.
• Phone calls – teachers / first aiders / management may give you a quick call to let you know something specific about the day or ask a question.
• Emails – the teacher may send you an email update of what has happened that day.

Sharing learning
By the end of September we should have a new package, ‘Evisense’ up and running where we can share photos or videos of your child’s learning with you.

We will call you with times for meetings – reviews / multiagency meetings / planning meetings. These will be held by video or conference phonecall until guidance relaxes. We can help you get set up with these. Wherever possible we would like to email minutes to save paper copies going home in schoolbags.

Whole School Announcements
These will be through the school communication system ‘Groupcall’ where a message can go out to a group of parents, all parents or all parents and staff. This can be a text message or an email message.

Update for families as we return to school

Below is information about the changes that are in place for returning to Bothwellpark High.

1. Children must be kept at home if symptoms of continuous cough, loss of taste or smell, or a high temperature. You will be asked to collect your child urgently if they display symptoms in school. We might check your child’s temperature if they are presenting differently.

3. If your child needs a comfort toy/object, then this can be brought into school.

4. Please send any medication in to school that your child needs with the permission form completed. Please click here to access the form.

5. We have moved to a cashless system and information was sent out in June about how to set this up. Please click here to access more information

6. We will no longer be taking money for snack or home economics lessons. Please send a snack with your child if possible. Lunches will be ordered in the morning and brought to classes to be eaten.

8. Children will be asked to remain in their taxi / bus / car until collected by a member of staff to help with physical distancing and hygiene procedures coming into school.

Update from North Lanarkshire Council

Today’s announcement from the Scottish Government outlines the plan to reopen all schools on a full time basis from August.

We are currently considering the practicalities and implications of this announcement and will await further clarification and guidance from government, particularly in relation to public health and scientific advice.

Our priority is the safety of our pupils and staff across our network of primary, secondary and ASN schools, as well as our early learning and childcare settings.

We understand that you will have questions, and as this news was only announced today, we will make further information available on how this impacts on our schools and facilities in the coming days.

We are preparing for pupils to return full-time to school on 12 August and we will be working closely with our schools and partners, including our early years and childcare provision to establish our plans, which we will communicate as soon as we are in a position to.
