5 Minute Fires

With a morning for of cooking with the yellow group in the kitchen. We felt it also important to learn that the kitchen is not the place to cook food. We started off with marshmallows today but will progress to a variety of different foods and possibly have a BBQ as well to highlight all differences and have fun while learning.

We also spent a lot of time learning of fire safety and the number one rule of never stepping into the “Ring of Fire” unless accompanied by a member of staff.

Active Schools Rowing

Another fantastic opportunity for our pupils created through our ever growing links with NLC Active Schools. Our green group took part in session 1 of 6 of a Rowing Block at Strathclyde Park. They familiarised themselves with the area and learned some very important warm up routines for rowing.

Who knows we may have the next Matthew Pinset or Victoria Thornley in our midst.

Outdoor Learning Fairy Story (How to Build a Town)

Using a story about us humans destroying an elf village in our outdoor learning area with our giant feet we have been able to begin to transfer skills and learning as to how we can re-build a town and all the important parts and aspects of daily life. Today we began by navigating a hidden letter and then had to find the essential part of a house…..the front door.

Autism Awareness Week

At Bothwellpark we certainly have some “Confident Individuals”. Pupils and staff from Bothwellpark and Our Ladies High School had a fantastic time at the Autism Awareness Karaoke. Some very talented young people and lots of fun had by everyone.

We were privileged as a school to receive a fantastic message from Gregg Hemphill and Ford Kiernan, famously known as Jack and Victor from Still Game. A special thanks goes to all the pupils involved in our mini production and also to our very own Stephen ‘Spielberg’ Irvine for all the effort and endeavour put in over and above for the pupils involved.

Well done everyone.
