Inclusive Individual Community and Forest School Programmes
Often in Bothwellpark whole class activities can be challenging for individuals to access. This is why we offer an inclusive, pupil driven, multi sensory curriculum
to allow all pupils to access learning in their own way. Giving pupils life skill learning opportunities for preparation for life after school. Community access, outdoor learning and forest schools are amongst these opportunities and couldn’t be accessed without the dedication of the staff at Bothwellpark and hard work of the individual pupils.
Kelly Kettles, Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows
Another great day of Forest Schools outdoor learning in the orange group at Bothwellpark. We researched hot and cold items and decided on a wet day hot chocolate with marshmallows was the best solution. This presented us with the perfect opportunity to test out our new Kelly Kettle and what a success it was.
Scotland Topic and New Outdoor Learning Area
Whilst the majority of the purple group enjoyed college. The remaining pupils enjoyed some Scottish Tunnocks art work and helped in the beginning of our new outdoor learning area within school grounds.
Friday Clubs – Practical Craft Skills
Another hugely successful woodwork skills Friday club. Together we worked hard on safety requirements of a new tool we would be using in the shape of the woodwork vice. We all seen and tried to remove a piece of wood from the jaws of the vice which was very tight. This highlighted to all of us how safe we need to be around the vice as it closes very tightly. We also continued to use the jigsaw to cut our bigger pieces of wood. Always keeping safe with safety goggles on and hands away from the blade. This was a great experience for all, whether it was sensory from the vibrations of the tool or the wood or whether we completed the full process ourselves with a little help and support. Well done again everyone our Candy Dispenser is really taking shape…..keep up the good work.
Fantastic Friday Clubs
Jack and Victor have nothing on Bothwellpark. With our school Scotland topic continuing and our big showcase fast approaching Stephen has excelled at incorporating expressive arts through drama and music in our very own “Clansman” at Bothwellpark. I am sure the finished film will be exceptional and one to watch out for as we wait with anticipation,
In the meantime please enjoy the pictures and hard work that has went into this by all pupils involved in the Film Making Friday Club.
Beats of Brazil
We Will Rock You with Bothwellpark Stars. All pupils involved at all levels of learning whether it was focus on awareness and participation or independent learning. Well done everyone.
Forest Schools at Bothwellpark
With the lovely winter frost weather and soon to be beautiful spring and summer weather it is important to remember the benefits, opportunities, resilience, fun and life skills we can learn during outdoor learning and forest schools. We can cook, build, make, create, think differently, find results in different ways, enjoy success and failure equally and grow as young individuals. Below is a short video to highlight some pupil work just before last years National Outdoor Learning Day.
Forest Schools – Purple Group Popcorn
With college off today the purple group had a fantastic opportunity to embark on the forest schools programme. We looked into things that catch fire and things that don’t (leaves and mud). We cleared all the dry leaves from our “ring of fire”. We learned that we never step in the “ring of fire” unless with the teacher and we only walk around it. Then when ready we prepared, cooked and ate some popcorn in the forest building life and learning skills and resilience to problems we need to tackle. Well done everyone.
Forest Schools Hammock Building
The Yellow group had a great time building a hammock at forest schools. This creates a fantastic relaxation and sensory area for pupils to enjoy during lessons. The first sign of success is failure as we can see from John falling off the hammock.
