S4 National 4 Week 2 Work

Over the next few weeks your will work through an online resource called “SCRATCH – Imagine, Program, Share”. This will enhance your programming skills using the scratch environment.

You will create an account “Join Scratch”

Then you will work through the two areas of Scratch:-

1) Learn how to make a project in Scratch

2) Try out starter projects

S3 Computing Science – Week 2 Work

You will read through the Databases theory notes and/or view the recorded lesson then answer the questions from the homework booklet stated in the weekly task post. The theory notes, video lesson and homework booklet are available in the FILES section in MSTEAMS in the CLASS MATERIALS folder and then in the DATABASES D&D folder.

A weekly tutorial session will be available every Thursday from 10 o’clock to 11 o’clock. Mr Lewis will be online via a teams live meeting. I’ll be going over the content of the weekly task and you’ll be able to ask me questions. Everyone from the year group is more than welcome, even if you’re not in Mr Lewis’ class.

S5/S6 Higher Business Management

HIGHER REVISION: UNDERSTANDING BUSINESS & MANAGEMENT OF MARKETING & OPERATIONS

Prior to the Christmas / New Year holidays we made good progress with the Higher Business Management course completing both the ‘Understanding Business’ and ‘Management of Marketing & Operations’ units. The plan for January ‘Lock-down’ will remain the same as intended and will involve preparation and revision for both the ‘MOMO’ end of unit assessment (topic test) and ‘HBM prelim’ – both of which will need to be rescheduled for when it is safe to return to the classroom environment.
Week 1 Task to be submitted by Tuesday 19th January
  • Complete the 2019 Higher Business Management Past Paper Exam – only attempt questions that relate to the Understanding Business and Marketing & Operations units of the course. Available via MS Teams –> General –> Files –> Class Materials –> Past Papers or via the SQA website. Submit your responses to myself as explained in the previous post.
  • Section 1: NHS Case Study – attempt Q’s 1a i ; 1a ii ; 1b ; 1c ; 1d i ; 1d ii ; 1h (mainly UB Q’s)

S3 Business

S3 BUSINESS – NATIONAL 4 : INFLUENCES ON BUSINESS (IOB)

Prior to the Christmas / New Year holidays we were working through the theory and assessments for the National 4 Business Unit ‘Business In Action’ (BIA). The focus for January (Lock-down) will be to start the next unit of work for National 4 Business – ‘Influences On Business’ (IOB). Pupils will be looking at how ‘Stakeholders’, ‘External Influences’ & ‘Internal Influences’ can affect the success of a Business.
Week 1 Task to be submitted by Tuesday 19th January
  • Read / refer to the notes on the National 4 BBC Bitesize website on ‘Stakeholders’  https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guides/zghkfcw/revision/1 –  slides 1-3 and watch the video on ‘Stakeholders’
  • Read / refer to the notes on the National 5 BBC Bitesize website on ‘Stakeholders’ – https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guides/zpdry4j/revision/1 – slides 1-9
  • Complete Stakeholder Activity Sheet 1 and Stakeholder Activity Sheet 2 and submit them both to myself as discussed in MS Teams. Both these word files can be found in your MS Teams Channel –> General –> Files –> Class Materials –>National 4 –> Influences on Business.

S4 N4 & N5 Practical Woodworking Pupils – MSTeams Task

Homework Tasks

S4 Practical Woodworking pupils also have homework tasks that should be handed every 2nd Friday. The next deadline dates are 15/1 for tasks 11&12 and then 29/1 for 13&14. These tasks can be found in their course notes booklets. Pupils have both, the Information and Question booklets at home, but can also access them through MSTeams if they cannot locate their originals. This Homework Schedule was in place pre lockdown and continues through lockdown.

Higher Revision Task 1!!!

Revision Task 1: Deadline is Tuesday 19th January!

I want you to attempt the Past Paper questions listed below. Attempt them first without looking at the expected responses, to let yourself see how ready you are for such Prelim questions. But when you submit them, I expect them to be complete & with correct answers (your own words as far as possible) using the expected responses. This will help you to be better prepared for the Prelim.

Homework Tasks
