Welcome to Technologies 25/26

A warm welcome back to all pupils as we begin an exciting year in the Technologies faculty. Our faculty brings together Business, Computing and Technical, giving pupils a broad and practical learning experience to help develop skills for life, learning and work.

S1 & 2 – ICT:

  • In S1, pupils have been introduced to key computing terminology and will continue to explore the concepts of inputs, processes, outputs and backing storage. This will help to create a strong foundation in digital literacy.
  • In S2, the focus is on ethical business, where pupils will be identifying needs and wants, exploring goods and services and understanding how businesses operate.

S1 & 2 – Technical:

  • S1 pupils have been learning about health and safety within the technologies workshops as well as best practices.  After this pupils will begin to create a mug tree base which will help teach basic skills in marking, sawing, sanding and drilling as they progress.
  • In S2, pupils have been introduced to Computer Aided Design (CAD) which they are using to develop digital design skills. Pupils will also learn how technology supports technical innovation throughout this unit.

We are proud to offer such a diverse curriculum, ensuring that pupils can pursue their interests and develop valuable skills.  Another post will be released towards the end of the week with further information about our upper set pupils (S3-S6).
