The Human Body

This term we have started a new topic, all about the human body! We are very excited to learn how our bodies work looking at our bones, organs and senses.
Last week was the Mexican holiday -el Día de los Muertos, The Day of the Dead, when families gather in colourful costumes to celebrate and remember their loved ones. We loved creating moving skeletons in the deigns that are seen during el Día de los Muertos. We also investigated why we have a skeleton.

Healthy October!

During October, we have been learning about how we can keep our bodies healthy. In PE we have been learning about the importance of fitness. We have had lots of fun creating and leading our own warm ups for our peers. We have also been challenging ourselves doing circuit courses and fitness workouts. These were hard work! We now know why and how our hearts beat faster and our breathing increases when we exercise.

Outdoor Learning Day

Last week we had our first outdoor learning day of the new school year. We loved taking our learning outside and exploring.

In maths we have been learning different addition and subtraction strategies. On Wednesday we practiced different strategies such as, using a number line, using doubles and adding multiples of 10 & 100 to decimal numbers, with chalk. We took photos on our iPads of our amazing work.

We have been exploring all the different places where we can read outside of the classroom. Some of us even took reading to an upside down level!

In September we have also been learning about what it means to be safe in Health and Wellbeing. Through this we have been thinking about the how we can keep ourselves and others safe during PE. We have been learning about the importance of warming up and cooling down our bodies when we participating in sport. We have even been leading our own warm ups for the class.
