Healthy October!

During October, we have been learning about how we can keep our bodies healthy. In PE we have been learning about the importance of fitness. We have had lots of fun creating and leading our own warm ups for our peers. We have also been challenging ourselves doing circuit courses and fitness workouts. These were hard work! We now know why and how our hearts beat faster and our breathing increases when we exercise.

Outdoor Learning Day

Last week we had our first outdoor learning day of the new school year. We loved taking our learning outside and exploring.

In maths we have been learning different addition and subtraction strategies. On Wednesday we practiced different strategies such as, using a number line, using doubles and adding multiples of 10 & 100 to decimal numbers, with chalk. We took photos on our iPads of our amazing work.

We have been exploring all the different places where we can read outside of the classroom. Some of us even took reading to an upside down level!

In September we have also been learning about what it means to be safe in Health and Wellbeing. Through this we have been thinking about the how we can keep ourselves and others safe during PE. We have been learning about the importance of warming up and cooling down our bodies when we participating in sport. We have even been leading our own warm ups for the class.

Trip to the Woods!

On Tuesday morning p3/4/5 went on a class trip to the woods. As part of our topic this term we have been learning all about Scotland’s landscape and famous landmarks. We were all very excited, especially after the horrible rain cancelled our trip on Friday. We found lots of interesting things in the woods, meet lots of little creepy crawly friends and even saw the fairy lands! We loved using our magnifying tubs to collect and examine what we found. What a great morning!

Class Charter

We have been learning about our rights and began working on our class charter. We decided that our charter would be an underwater theme, where we would become scuba divers! We voted as a class and decided that our top 3 rights for our charter would be:

Article 3- All adults should do what is best for you

Article 24- You have the right to a clean and safe environment

Article 42 – You have the right to know your rights!

Welcome to Primary 3/4/5!

We were all very excited to get back to school after a long summer and meet our new teacher! We have had a great first month back and most of us have loved exploring our new classroom. We started in August by having a hard think what our goals could be for this year . Everyone is very determined to try their very best to achieve these goals by June.

End of term update!

The Buddies!

Here’s an update!

Before the holidays, we were looking at data handling and the use of Microsoft Excel! We did a fantastic job of collecting and inputting data using our iPads, and created a variety of different charts such as pie charts, bar charts and column charts!

LI – to collect data and display it using Microsoft Excel.

We were also working on equations!
We took our learning outside and completed it using chalk!

LI – to solve problems when an unknown number is a letter or a symbol.

We were also practicing our spelling words using different resources such as building blocks and jigsaw pieces!

LI – to use a variety of resources to revise my spelling words.

We worked hard to create allergy safe energy balls! We imagined that we were explorers, and we thought about what we would need to prepare us, and provide us with energy! We used a nut-free alternative to peanut butter, sunflower seeds, multi seeds, some chocolate chips, oats and a touch of maple syrup!

Within our topic work, we used a mini beast of our choice to create a poster and then presented it to our fellow classmates! We used outdoor resources to create our mini beast before recording and displaying information on it using our iPads.

LI – to use outdoor resources to create a mini beast.

LI – to create and present a poster on a mini beast of my choice.
