We braved typical Scottish weather and headed back outside again, this time to collect some twigs for our Harvest work.
What are we collecting twigs for? You will have to wait to find out!
The youngest class in Banton Primary!
We braved typical Scottish weather and headed back outside again, this time to collect some twigs for our Harvest work.
What are we collecting twigs for? You will have to wait to find out!
This week we went on an adventure to find some Autumn leaves. We looked for (and found) leaves that were brown, golden, yellow and red. We even found some that were a mixture of different colours!
After giving the leaves a nice bath, we used them to create hedgehogs!
We learned interesting facts about hedgehogs. Did you know that if you see one during the day, it could be in trouble. Also, please ask us what a baby hedgehog is called!
This week we are learning about the four seasons – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. We talked about the different things we can see in each season, and found out which season we were born in.
We also made seasons wheels to help us remember which season it is. Right now our wheels are set to Autumn, but soon they will be changing. Brrrrrr!
Sometimes in class we do some exercises and yoga to keep active. Usually we watch an instructor on a video or Mr McNab (tries to) show us different moves we can do.
This time, it was OUR turn to become the teachers!
We worked in groups to create workout routines, and then showed the rest of the class how to do different exercises.
Watch our video and feel free to join in!
It was Mission POSSIBLE as we showed off how active, flexible and adaptable we can be by navigating through a maze of (pretend) laser beams! Please don’t worry, no one lost any fingers!
This week in class, we have been learning about how important it is to look after our wellbeing. To help us with this, we have been looking at a strange word…SHANARRI!
Every day this week, we have been looking at different parts of SHANARRI. One of our favourite activities was for Achieving. We were given a challenge to build a bridge to connect two desks using construction materials. The bridge had to be both long and strong enough to hold the remote control for our Smartboard!
We worked together and complete the challenge! We were proud of what we achieved!
We read the story, The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl. We really enjoyed learning about the crocodile’s secret plans and clever tricks.
In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we did lots of activities about the story!
We made roly-poly birds, elephants, hippos, monkeys, a giant crocodile and lots of other snappy pieces of work!
As well as filling our brains, we have been filling our walls with some of our wonderful work!
We talked about the things that make us feel down and then cheered ourselves up by talking about the things that made us feel happy. To show this, we did some beautiful pictures on anchors and clouds!
We also discussed our talents and the things we are good at. Thinking about these things helped us to set new targets for things we would like to get better at. Here are our talents and targets, displayed beside our wonderful self-portraits. To draw these, we learned about where to place the different features of our faces, and then used selfie-cameras to make it easier to draw ourselves!
It has been a busy first few weeks in Primary 1-3. We are now settled in nicely and our brains are growing bigger and bigger every day!
In the morning, we do lots of different activities to get our minds active. Sometimes we like to make patterns…
We also discussed things that make us feel up and things that make us feel down. To show this, we did a little experiment! We put some raisins into some fizzy water and watched as the they danced up and down, up and down, up and down.
Sometimes we may feel down, but before long, we will feel up again. We are all raisins!
Hello!
We are super happy to be back at school, with both old friends and new friends!
Some things might be a little bit different this year but it is going to be an exciting time in Primary 1-3 and we are looking forward to learning lots of new things! We may even teach Mr McNab a few things. Okay…A LOT of things!
