This morning the Biggies paid a visit to the Primary 1-2.
The Biggies came down to help with baking scones. The classes worked really hard to make some delicious scones. Both classes enjoyed working with each other and eating the scones!
More importantly the Biggies were able to practice their leadership skills. The primary 1&2s learnt about baking and keeping everyone safe in the kitchen. Our maths measuring got a work out too. Many hands were washed. Everyone used their communications, talking & listing skills too.

Craters
The Banton Bairns had a great time making their own ‘moon dust’ last week. We mixed corn flour and baby oil to make our dust then we spread it out in a tray. Once this was done, it was time to make some craters! We dropped different sizes of rock from different heights and found that bigger rocks make bigger craters. We also found that dropping a rock from a higher height made the crater bigger too! Now we know why there are so many huge craters on the moon! 🌙
Visiting the Dentist
Primary 1/2 had a lot of fun this week when we learned all about going to the dentist. We learned about what happens during a visit to the dentist and about the people we might meet there. We even got to play at being dentists by creating our own imaginary dental surgeries with receptions, waiting rooms and dentists’ rooms 🦷 🍎

P1/2 Outdoor Learning Day
P1/2 braved the blustery weather to enjoy their outdoor learning day. We went on a hunt for different kinds of autumn leaves and sorted them into colours and sizes when we got back to class. We also used crayons to make leaf rubbings 🍂
After break, we went for a walk around the school and down to the park to look for signs of autumn. We founds lots of the things on our list and had some fun in the park when we were finished 😀
Halloween Fun 🎃
Primary 1/2 have been having lots of fun for Halloween. On Friday, we wrote our own stories about a spooky character before having a fantastic afternoon at our Halloween party. On Monday, we practised our cutting and line drawing skills to make some ghastly Halloween witches. Can you tell who is who?
Visit to Banton Shop
Before the October holidays, Primary 1/2 paid a visit to Banton Shop. We had a good look around to find out about all the things that we could buy there. We also thought about the different ways that technology can be used in a shop. We had a lovely visit and would like to thank the owners and staff of Banton Shop for having us 🙂
Models of Banton
Last Thursday, Primary 1/2 went to the gym hall to make models of places in Banton. We used construction toys to make our models. We worked together in groups. Sometimes we got our models wrong and we realised we had to change them to make them even better. It was super and we had lots of fun!
Number Talks
It’s Maths Week Scotland this week and Primary 1/2 have begun their journey with Number Talks! During Number Talks, we spend time explaining how we found our answers to maths questions. It’s always really important to listen to each other so we can learn all the different ways of finding the right answer. We really enjoyed our first Number Talks together and are looking forward to more!
P1/2 Outdoor Learning Day
P1/2 had a lovely day learning in the sunshine. In the morning, we practised our new sounds and common words by making them out of things we found outside like twigs and leaves. After this, we went on a number hunt. Lots of well known characters were hiding in our playground and we had to use our counting skills to help them! In the afternoon, we went for a walk around Banton with the Biggies to take photographs of some important places in the village. We really enjoyed having our special helpers with us; thank you Biggies! 😀
