Titanic

Primary 5/6/7 have really enjoyed learning about The Titanic. We used the novel Titanic – Death on the Water as a context for learning.

The children were given the name of a passenger and they had to research them using the internet to write a biography about them. They had to find out if they were a 1st, 2nd or 3rd class passenger or a crew member, their background and whether or not they survived. The results have been displayed on the Titanic wall.

There were a number of VIP passengers on board Titanic. Children worked in groups to research John Jacob Astor, Benjamin Guggenheim, Isador Strauss and Thomas Andrews who designed the Titanic.
