Fairtrade Focus Day
Thursday 22nd February was our second focus day of the year. This time we had a Fairtrade focus.
Children participated in an assembly about Fairtrade where they proved themselves to be very knowledgeable about Fairtrade but were interested to find out more about how climate change affects Fairtrade farmers and what some Fairtrade farmers are doing to combat some of this.
P1/2 learned about bananas and P3/4 learned about chocolate. They joined together to make some yummy Fairtrade snacks – bananas dipped in melted chocolate!
P1/2 made some amazing banana plantations using soil, sand, paper and construction toys. They used their creativity and imagination skills so well.
P3/4 designed a wrapper for their own Fairtrade chocolate. Each bar had the Fairtrade logo.
P5/6/7 investigated choices and how they can make a difference in the choices they make. They looked at individual choices, class choices and things we could choose to do as a whole school to make a difference. They have already decided that as a class they are going to litter pick for 10 minutes at the start of Fun Friday once a month. Well done P5/6/7 – making a positive change already!
