Happy Holidays from everyone at Abronhill Primary School and Nursery Class! The school will close on Tuesday 22nd at 2.30pm for the Christmas break.
The nursery hours remain unaffected and they will close at the normal time. For anyone who wishes to collect their child earlier from nursery, arrangements can be made by contacting the school office.
We NEED your help!
We are now collecting the sun book tokens to get free books for our nursery! Tokens can be found in the Sun newspaper and should be cut out and posted in the box within the nursery cloakroom or the box at the school office.
Thank you for your help and support with this collection campaign!
Odd socks day on Tuesday 12th November.
Wear odd socks to school to celebrate us all being unique and different!
Our Bookbug Gifting Ceremonies were a great success. The joy of the moment is clear to see on the faces of all. Thank you to everyone who came to join us, special times indeed! Thank you also to Mrs McMaster, you were a pleasure to watch. @scottishbooktrust @FMReadChallenge
The first transition visit was a great success, the children enthusiastically participated in all the activities and worked really well with their buddies. The buddies loved it and think our future P1s are just fab!
You will see from the lengthy post that the Christmas season is definitely upon us! There is so much to do at this time of year and we would like you to know that we appreciate your support at this busy time.
Monday December 3rd- We welcome Miss Gillian Forrester to Abronhill Primary School and Nursery Class. Miss Forrester is a class teacher and will be working throughout the school between now and June. She will be teaching primary 7 until the Christmas holidays.
Tuesday December 4th- An athlete from Sports for Schools will be with us this afternoon. Jade Nimmo excels as a long jumper and currently holds the Scottish record. She will be doing activities with all classes.
Wednesday December 5th- North Lanarkshire Council will be hosting visitors from our partner region in Strasbourg, France throughout this week. On Wednesday, we have been selected to have some of the visitors come to our school. I know our children will impress them with their hard work, skills and excellent behaviour.
Thursday December 6th- Christmas Lunch Day! Please note that if your child wants to have a lunch then he/she should have returned the slip showing their choice. This is our busiest lunch day of the year, therefore, we need to know exact numbers beforehand so the orders can be placed. If your child has not ordered a lunch in advance, then he/she must bring a packed lunch or be collected for a home lunch.
Friday December 7th- Christmas Fayre. Please see times below: Nursery: 10am-11am (nursery parents can also come in the afternoon but this is the nursery’s dedicated slot). P4-7: 11am-12pm P1-3: 1pm-2pm We appreciate all of your support at this event. The children have worked hard on their crafts and we would like to give a massive thank you to our hard working Parent Council who have organised the Fayre.
Sunday December 9th: It might be Sunday but we are still busy spreading Christmas cheer! Our choir will be participating in the Festival of Light along with many other choirs from around Cumbernauld. This event is held each year in different churches. This year the Festival of Light will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Kyle Road, Cumbernauld at 7.30pm. We look forward to meeting other choirs and hope you can come along to support.
The children are using their imaginations and solving problems to construct models using loose parts. #loosepartsplay #nursery #technology
The children had lots of fun during their sponsored walk looking for signs of Autumn and enjoyed snack outdoor to raise money for their Nursery funds. Thank you very much for supporting us.
At the right of the page you will see a link that enables you to follow us on Twitter. Please consider clicking on this! At present, staff put weekly updates and photographs on this blog to share the life of the school and nursery with you. Twitter is quicker and easier to use, especially when uploading photos, so staff will be using this more often. If you are not on Twitter you may miss seeing some of the activities. When we were in Kilbowie we tweeted regularly and it proved very popular with many families.
The school will now be paperless and all correspondence/alerts will be sent through the email address you have supplied the school with. We have had a great response to this with 174 out of 188 parents/guardians supplying us with an email address. If you haven’t already given us an email address it is your responsibility to call into the school office to collect any correspondence that we may generate.
There is also a letters section under the school information menu on this website, which will be updated weekly with correspondence. Alternatively, you can click on the image below to take you to the letters section.
Thanks you for your support with our transition to a paperless system.
