Busy start of term for Primary 6!

Primary 6 have been so busy since the new term started we have not had time to post yet!

We are in to the swing of these full weeks now and are settling in to hard work.

In Literacy we have all been reading a book called Kensuke’s Kingdom which is about a boy who disappears before his 12th birthday! With Mrs Fleck we have been working hard at narrative writing.

During maths we have been concentrating on place value with decimal points – this can sometimes be tricky when adding and subtracting so we have been making sure that we are putting the numbers in the correct place!

Our topic this term is Japan – did you know that Tokyo is the capital city? Or that in Japan they grow square watermelons? We have been using the iPads and laptops to find out lots of interesting facts about Japan.

We have also been learning some greetings in Japanese – we are getting really good! Primary 6 have also been learning to write our names in Japanese and we have been learning about a Japanese Star Festival called – Tanabata.

We are also very lucky because this term on Thursdays we are getting to use the gym hall in the High School with the Primary 7s – its huge.

With the Primary 7s away at Kilbowie we got the chance to be monitors, we were all very responsible and luckily (or unluckily) it rained a lot last week so we got lots of chances to be wet-play monitors!

We are all looking forward to maths week next week and learning more about Japan 🙂
