News from Primary 6/7

IMG_0936 IMG_0935This week we have been very busy.  In maths, we have been looking at area and division.  We have been doing right angle triangles, and then finding the area.  In order to do this, you multiply the height by the length.  You find that answer and then you divide it by 2 so that you have found the area of a triangle.

Primary 6 also went to the Maths Quiz in the high school.  Our 2 teams did very well and we came third, well done to everyone who participated.

We have also been doing division to 1 or 2 decimal points, it is quite tricky, but we are beginning to get the hang of it now.

In literacy we have been looking at fictional narrative poems, the structure and characterization of them.  So far we have been enjoying this & can’t wait to do more.  In taught writing we have written our very own Greyfriar’s Bobby poem, using rhythm and rhyme.

In Health and Wellbeing, P.E., we have been doing some athletics and skipping.  Mrs White has shown us how to do double dutch skipping, which is skipping with 2 ropes.  It is very hard, but we now know how to use the ropes properly.  In athletics we have been doing the speed bounce and the hurdles to get ready for the Sportshall Athletics Competition.

Speaking about Sportshall Athletics, the team all had a wonderful time & we did very well.  Out of 102 schools, we came fourth, which we were all very excited.

Scottish Afternoon is all coming on very well and it will look brilliant on stage.

But we have had some sad news this week, Mrs Cornwell has been offered a secondment in the NHS for a year, but she has promised to be back for the Primary 7s Leavers Assembly.
