Final Week Reminders

A few things to remember this week:

Primary 1 and Primary 2 Christmas Party

This will take place on Monday 18th December and hopefully a special visitor will be joining them to deliver a little gift. As with the older children, the party will take place in the afternoon, starting at 1pm. If your child is staying for lunch or is a packed lunch, members of staff can help your child to change into party clothes if required. If children are going home for lunch, the normal lunch time applies. The party will finish at 3pm.

Christmas Service

The Christmas Service will take place in Coltness Memorial Church on Wednesday, 20th December 2017 at 10am.   Arrangements have been made for staff and pupils to travel to and from the service by bus.  Parents, grandparents and friends are welcome to join us at the church and support our pupils for this festive celebration. Please be aware that children WILL NOT be dismissed from the church ALL pupils will return to the school for the remainder of the school day. As with most school outings, could all pupils please wear school uniform (white shirt and tie) on this day?

Panto Success at MPS

A massive congratulations to our Morningside Stars after a wonderfully entertaining performance last night. All of your families couldn’t say enough about how fabulous you were, well done!

I unfortunately didn’t manage to take any pictures of the children in their costumes and wondered if any of the audience could help out? If you have any good snaps of the show, could you please send me a few so I can put them on the blog, and up in school?

Send to: enquiries@morningside.n-lanark.sch.uk

Thanks to all the parents who braved the cold and snow to come and support the children, and for helping them practise lines for the past 3 months.

They really did you, and MPS, proud!

Panto Pandemonium at MPS!

The drama club are super excited to take part in their dress rehearsal in front of the school today, followed by an evening performance for friends and family. They have been hard at work since September refining their singing, dancing and acting skills, and are ready to give the performance of a life time. Good luck girls!

Family Learning at MPS

Look out for Family Learning @ Morningside

My name is Jackie Radcliffe and I am the Community Learning & Development worker, based here in Morningside Primary School on Wednesdays. My role here is to work with as many families as I can, I know from experience things can get tough sometimes and knowing that there is that little bit of extra support to help you through these occasions, that is not a statutory service, can be very helpful.

Things such as Growing Together, Learning Forever and a Numeracy programme which are very informal, relaxed and YOU would set the topics along with your children that maybe need that extra bit of support. For example:

“I am rubbish at helping with homework, what can I do to help my child”

“There are after school clubs but none of my kids can go because of transport and childcare”

These are a few issues that I have come across in the past and worked with families to get better at by giving hints and tips that are a bit different to the conventional ideas.
