Its great to see everyone back and looking so smart after the holidays. It is cold though so if you need to wear an extra jumper please try your best to make it school colors and as plain as possible. No logos please.
If you have found you child has grown over the holiday and you need some uniform please contact the office we have loads of nearly new uniform. We might be able to assist.
This month is traditionally our Scottish month at Lawmuir. All classes will be learning a wee bit about Scottish culture and history. We would love to see some of their work or poetry recitals on Twitter, so please tag us @LawmuirPS if you wish to do so.
On Saturday, a number of pupils and their parents enjoyed a very wet afternoon out supporting Caledonian Braves.
Miah, who won The Braves recent artwork competition met some players and we all enjoyed an exciting game of football. Next time we are hoping for a win. Thanks to everyone who came along to support.
Following recent industrial action by teacher unions, the teacher unions, the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), the Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association (SSTA), the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) and the Association of Head Teachers and Deputes (AHDS) intend to carry out further industrial action over the national pay offer and their members plan to strike in January 2023.
Thursday 19 January 2023 (57 term-time school-based nursery classes, primary, ASN and secondary schools)
Please note that the 23 family learning centres and 23 full-time nurseries will be open.
The impact of the industrial action may mean that you will need to consider additional childcare arrangements over these dates.
Any school that is closed to children and young people on the dates outlined above, will not have any school meal provision on site, and there will not be any school transport, breakfast clubs or school crossing patrols on the outlined dates.
As you may remember, we decided to rotate our interval /lunch sittings each term in order that all classes were treated equally. From next week we will revert to the times from Term 1 again. This means the following,

Our After School Clubs are resuming this week, you will have recieved a confirmation letter if your child has a place at a club.

As the school will be closed to pupils on Tuesday 10 January and Thursday 19 January 2023, there will not be any school meal provision on site, and there will not be any school transport, breakfast clubs or school crossing patrols.
Families in receipt of free school meals on the basis of low income will be reimbursed via a direct payment to bank accounts or via Paypoint voucher to postal addresses which may take up to five working days.
As you will understand, this is a situation that may be subject to change and I will inform you at the first opportunity if there are further changes to the school day.

I wanted to get in touch with you directly to provide clarification on the situation for this school and I can confirm that the school will be open to pupils on Wednesday 7 December 2022 with little or no impact to the school day.
School transport will operate as normal.
