Today was the Room 6 and Room 3 Christmas Party and all the children donned their best outfits to take part in some traditional Scottish dancing as well as some classic party tunes, like the Superman and Cha Cha Slide. Everyone had a fantastic time playing party games and enjoying some well earned snacks.
Thank you to Miss McNeill for organising the music, we loved it!

Room 6 had great Enterprise success last week with their Rice Krispie Reindeer treats, made and sold at the Christmas Fayre. The children all had the chance to make the reindeer’s eyes, nose and antlers. The children also came up with the brilliant idea to utilise what would have been waste. All the offcuts from the reindeers were made up into little bags of reindeer rubble, labelled and put up for sale. What an enterprising bunch we have! We are now waiting to see how much money we made and what the profit will be.

Room 6
Room 13 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Bellshill Tesco this week. They visited lots of different sections of the store and they participated in a food tasting session linked to our class topic ‘Food Around the World’.
Room 6 have had a very busy week! We have been learning all about money in Maths, recognising the different coins and being able to find the coins to pay for different amounts. We worked in pairs and small groups to help each other.
In IDL we are continuing to build our rainforest. We are adding animals and plants to each of the 4 layers. This week we labelled the layers and finished our atlas work on where rainforest are in the world. We used notes that we wrote to make our own factfiles, building interesting sentences and adding as many features of non fiction text as we could. The results are impressive!
The week will end with the school Talent Show, Christmas Fayre and Enterprise phew!
A reminder that all homework for the week should be handed in on Friday.
Our trip to the pantomime is on Friday 27th November. We will be leaving school around 12noon and so will need to have an early lunch.
To make things as easy as possible pupils should order their lunch using the attached form – Panto Lunch Form.
Blue Band/ Snack-to-go lunches should also be ordered using the Snack-to-go form.
All other pupils who do not wish to order a school lunch should bring a packed lunch to school. No crossing patrol is available at this time.
Many Thanks
Room 12 really enjoyed their trip to our local Tesco store yesterday. The boys & girls got lots of hands on experience in the different departments as you can see from the photos below.
Collecting your child from school after the visit to the Panto at Motherwell Theatre
On Friday 27th November the whole school will be going to see “Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs” at Motherwell Concert Hall and Theatre. We are booked for the afternoon performance, which starts at 1.15pm and lasts approximately 2 hours 30 mins. We should return around 4.45pm onwards however we have 7 buses coming back therefore it will be extremely busy.
In order to ensure the safety of all pupils I would ask that you read the following information and follow the procedures for picking up your child from 4.45pm onwards
Buses will need to exit from Footfield Road via Busby Road, please do not block this corner or the buses will not be able to turn to exit and this will create further congestion.
I would ask that you take great care in crossing the roads in and around the school on your way home.
Please complete and return the slip on the letter by Wednesday 25th November indicating the adult who will collect your child/ren.
Where you choose to give permission for your child to walk home alone, please note that s/he will not be dismissed until all of the buses have returned, as there is no crossing patrol in place.
Procedures above are to ensure that all of our children are dismissed safely into the care of the identified adult collecting them.
I would like to thank you in advance for your co-operation and patience, I know that this is a busy time of year and that many of you have other commitments, return times are dependent on traffic, weather conditions and everyone’s co-operation in following procedures.
If you have any questions regarding this event please contact the school directly.
The information above is taken from the PantoParentalInfoLetter which was sent home in school bags Monday 23rd November. Additional copies can be downloaded here.
