For a number of years, West Kilbride Primary have worked in partnership with Craft Town Scotland to deliver inter-disciplinary learning projects within our local community- these are focussed on local themes tied to global subjects. This year’s outdoor learning experience, Our Glen, engaged our P5 and P6 pupils. The children’s imaginative interpretations about their experience underscored their learning, with the aim of building resilience with outside and nature, strengthening a sense of belonging, and enjoyment in working together. This supported the children’s identification to where they live, guardianship and developed agency. The children also enjoyed hands-on film training on-site with the project’s film maker. Furthermore, seeing their creations exhibited in the West Kilbride’s Barony Arts Centre deepened their identification with their community.
