Our Learning Environment (The Campus)

In March 2018, St. Mary’s moved location to a new shared campus housing St. Mary’s and Largs Primary School, along with Largs Early Years Centre and Largs Academy.

That June, we welcomed Nicola Sturgeon for the official opening!

We have our own classroom areas.  However,  we share the dining area, gym halls, playgrounds, outdoor classrooms and library. Children are encouraged to seek opportunities to play with their friends from Largs Primary School at break and lunch, and the schools work well together to seek other opportunities to work together. For example, we celebrated the recent Jubilee and Coronation events together as one, with families invited along.

We engage with Largs Academy for transition events, including basketball, football/rugby sessions led by the Sports Leaders and a robust programme of P7 transition experiences for those opting to attend Largs Academy.

We also make regular use of the facilities available at Inverclyde Sports Centre.

Here are a few pictures of our learning environment, including some of the shared areas:

This is our Reception area. Mrs Gault, Mrs Mochrie and Mrs Fisher can usually be found here.

This is our Infant floor. Primaries One, Two and Three  are here, with the spare classroom and open area set up to facilitate high-quality play based learning experiences. These areas are changed regularly to meet the needs and interests of our learners.

Our Confucius Classroom is also located here.

Primaries Four, Five, Six and Seven are found on our upper floor:

This is our lower dining plaza where Primaries 1-4 can eat their lunch. Primaries 5-7 eat upstairs.

We have access to two gym halls.

First is the Primary Performance Space – which also includes a stage and impressive sound and light systems.

Next is the smaller Primary gym. Both are fully equipped with wall bars and other sports resources.

This is our shared library area. Each class is timetabled access to enjoy this resource.

We work closely with Largs Campus Librarian, Mr Robin Dunlop, to make the most of this resource.
