School Improvement Plan

The School Improvement Plan is a document which sets out the activities we will be undertaking as a school over the coming session. This document is created in collaboration with our pupils, staff and families.

Our Pupil Council have been working hard to take forward the views of the children across our school. The members worked together in groups to organise statements that best describe the role of a Pupil Councillor and used this to form their updated mission statement:

It is the Pupil Council’s responsibility to:

  1. Try to make the school a better place for everyone.
  2. Make sure everyone’s voice is heard, especially the quiet children.
  3. Help set a good example by being kind and helpful.
  4. Listen carefully to everyone’s ideas and opinions.
  5. Work with teachers to plan fun events for the school.
  6. Shares ideas from the class to the Pupil Council.
  7. Tell the other children in class what happens at meetings.
  8. Take notes during meetings so we remember what was talked about and share these with the school.

The first priority the Pupil Council have agreed on is to reinforce the meaning behind the Golden Table at lunch time on a Friday for our Star Pupils and to talk about the expectations in the dinner hall. This will be shared at an assembly this term.

The Pupil Council have created a short PowerPoint to explain how they are going to evaluate the learning & teaching at Skelmorlie Primary School using a document called ‘How Good is Our School’.
