Across The Curriculum

November 2020

We have learned so much about the body! We can now talk about a lot of the bones and muscles in the body and can even say some of there anatomical names like the sternocleidomastoid, biceps, hamstrings and glutes to mention just a few. To help us remember the structure of the skeleton we made spooky skeletons from straws. Mr Hughes challenged us to create a skeleton using only 3 straws and we all did amazing!

Finally, we have also been looking at the pathway of our food after we have eaten. Watching videos and investigating what happens when we swallow our food, we have learned that after passing the tongue the food goes down the Oesophagus, into the stomach before making its ways through the small and large intestines before coming back out.

October 2020

We celebrated Halloween with lots of different games! We played pin the spider on the web, bravely put our hands in Frankenstein’s mouth, enjoyed seeing other classes costumes in a parade and had a cinema afternoon with sweets and the Adams Family! It was such a fun day!

We have also been learning all about the human body for our topic and have managed to learn about the different bones, organs and muscles in the body. We even managed to use our knowledge of bones to build a skeleton!!

Term 1

For our ancient Egypt topic we have been learning so much! We learned about the pyramids, gods and goddesses, pharaohs, sarcophagi, cartouche’s, the ancient process of mummification, tombs and so much more! We also had loads of fun creating, colouring and cutting out our God masks to take home, it was magnificent!

Some of us chose to tel the class all about our hobbies and interests! Ooliyah told us about her love of horse riding, Harry K talked about his new found enjoyment of rugby and both Archie and Megan shared their love of Harry Potter with the class.

Twice this term we were awarded 15 extra minutes of playtime for our amazing behaviour in the dinner hall at lunchtime. Mr Hughes has loved the effort we have put in and is super proud of how well we are doing.
