January Isolation:
Before Christmas we had continue to learn sounds from phase 3. These sounds are: j – v – w – x – y – z – zz.
If you are working from home, you can practise writing CVC words using out phonics and drawing a picture to match. E.g. jug – fox – van – zip
A cvc words mean consonant- vowel- consonant. A word that can be spelt phonetically correctly.
Can you try to write a sentence with a CVC word? E.g I get on the bus.
This means that we are trying to use our high frequency words and our phonics to form a sentence.
Log on to Bug Club and have a go at reading a new book. Can you copy any of the sentences from your book? Can you write each word in a different colour and then illustrate that sentence?
Week beginning 17th January new sounds: th, ng, ai
Numeracy:
Before Christmas we were trying to be as confident as possible with our numbers to 20. If you are at home, try to write all your numbers to 20 in the correct order.
Count how many knives, forks or spoons are in the drawer and write the total.
Can you count your toys? Or how many times you can run up and down the stairs in 1 minute?
We were also learning about money. You could practise this at home if you have any coins to hand. Sort the coins out, put them in order from smallest value to biggest value.
January 2022: We are beginning to look at addition symbol and equals symbol and how these are use in an addition calculation. You could try to create your own sums. E.g If I have 2 pens and I add on 3 pens, how many pens do I have in total?
