Share a Story Month competition is now open!
This year’s theme is Sail Away in a Story so you are invited to write a short story (50-300 words) about a boat, ship, the sea – anything related to sailing!
Entries to Mrs Vaughan by 1 June – prize to be won!
Kilwinning Academy is running a Dec the Doors competition and Mrs Vaughan couldn’t resist entering!
The theme is “Books…. Not just for Christmas!” All the “decorations” on the tree and book covers of new books recently added to stock. See something you like the look of? Pop in and grab it for the Christmas holidays!
Aged 14-18 and love writing short stories? The BBC Young Writers’ Award with Cambridge University is still open for entries!
Closing date is 9am GMT on Monday 28 March 2022 – not long now so get writing!

To celebrate National Libraries Week (4-10 October), Mrs Vaughan is asking for anyone who is creative, artistic or with an eye for design to create a logo for the Library for when it opens.
The brief:
Like stories which give you chills? Like writing stories even more? Then why not enter the North Ayrshire writing competition for Ravenfest 2021. Write a short story in the style of Edgar Allan Poe – murder, mystery, suspense , or all three!

To celebrate Roald Dahl Day on 13 September, why try a quiz about his books and life. The quiz is on Google forms. It’s multiple choice so even if you don’t know the answer, it’s worth a guess!
