Red Nose Day at James Mac

Our Pupil Council hosted a whole school snack this morning to raise money for Comic Relief.  Thanks to all our parents whose children were turned out beautifully in their red clothes, and to everyone who donated to this fabulous cause.

Our whole school snack was an amazing display of red foods and drinks which pupils enjoyed tasting and exploring.

The Sky’s the Limit!

Primary C have been loving exploring space as part of their topic – The Sky’s the Limit!

Each week ‘Astro Ted’ travels up into space and visits different planets. When he comes back to planet Earth he brings his sparkly ‘galactic’ bag filled with information about each planet for us to explore! This week we have explored Mars. We had lots of different red items to explore – as we found out Mars it is often referred to as  the ‘Red Planet’, and ice – because it is a very cold planet. Astro Ted also brought us red noses just for fun!

Tesco Bags of Help cheque presentation

We were delighted this afternoon to receive our cheque presentation from Tesco.  We will over the course of the next year receive an amazing £4000 thanks to Lizzy Duncan, who put in an application on our behalf.  And huge thanks go to everyone from the Three Towns area who supported James McFarlane school by placing their blue tokens in our section in Saltcoats and Ardrossan stores.

Generous Donation

Emily, pictured below, came into school today to donate the amazing amount of £200 to the children in our school.  Emily is the daughter of Yvonne Bennett from Rainbow House, who is a frequent visitor to the school.  Emily used the skills she learned in Brownies to gain her baking badge, organised a bake sale at her church and raised £200 supported by the parishioners from the church.

Emily was also awarded her Community badge by Joanna Blane who works in the school and is also Emily’s Brownie Guide leader.

Thank you so much Emily and well done!!
