Please note that Outlook within Glow should not be used to transfer any personal or sensitive information about pupils.  Senior management in your schools have corporate Outlook accounts for these purposes.

Promethean

The authority is in the process of replacing many of the old interactive whiteboards in schools (not Mitie schools) with Promethean panels.  This is an ongoing programme and ahs training implications for schools.  Five staff have been undergoing a Promethean Train the Trainer course, which was unfortunately interrupted by COVID.  However you will find that most schools will have members of staff who are proficient in the use of Promethean and will be able to provide support should you require it.

Digital Training Opportunities

Digital training is provided to schools either by myself or by outside agencies such as the Digital Skills Team at Education Scotland or independent trainers.  This may  look very different this year with most training probably being delivered  online.

Training sessions are either requested by schools or offered to schools by way of an e-mail to the school office and Digital Learning Coordinator.  I also advertise courses on my Twitter feed so keep an eye out for these over the session.  There is no planned programme as yet.

You will also find lots of information relating to Professional Learning opportunities on the Digital Professional Learning page on this website.

Digital Learning

You will find many documents relating to all aspects of digital technologies on this website, including internet safety, social media, government documents and GDPR.

Coding the Future

In North Ayrshire we have a virtual STEM Hub, run by the Coding the Future Team.  This consists of two members of staff from IT, Michele Laverty and James McNeil,   secondary DHT Clare Bethell  and myself. The CtF Project was recognised in this year’s EdTech50 Yearbook and we hold annual Code Camps as well as facilitate school and library Code Clubs.

We have a Twitter account you can follow @NAC_CodeClubs and equipment that can be borrowed including Virtual Reality Headsets, Spheros, Dash robots, AR Merge Cubes and a 360 degree camera.  These items are bookable, however at the moment we are unable to take bookings due to the current situation.
