Here at Fairlie Primary, we have our Bronze: Commitment Award. The next step of our journey is to achieve our Silver Award. Taking part in the Rights Respecting Schools Award links directly to our GIRFEC (Getting It Right for Every Child) approach. The wellbeing of children is at the heart of the GIRFEC approach. We use the wellbeing indicators to describe what it looks like when things are going well for a child (you may have heard your child referring to this as SHANARRI): Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurturing, Active, Respected, Responsible and Included.
Community Groups
We have a Rights Respecting School community group, where the children involved meet once per month to complete agreed actions and share their views. The completed action plan is shared at assembly and on display in our open area.
Learning about the Articles of the UNCRC
Every fortnight, during our assembly, we focus on ‘Right of the Fortnight’. The community group support to lead this with staff and children, as well as sharing on Twitter for our families and wider community to see.
Our Rights Respecting Classrooms
Each class agreed their own charter at the start of the term. The children were involved in deciding what should be included within their charter as well as which articles related to their own class best. These are displayed in each class in different ways.
