Deep Learning Planning
This year, in P4-7, we have developed a new way to plan our topics. This is to align with the Deep Learning Approach. Within it, there is a section for teachers to record how they will ‘Leverage Digital’ while delivering the topic. Please see examples below.

Planning for ICT Skill Development – Cluster Collaboration
The attached planners were developed as part of a cluster moderation in the 2023/2024 session. Our Digitial Co-ordinator, worked with the other cluster schools to audit staff skills, deliver staff training to fill in gaps and produce consistent skill development pathways. These are attached below. These are part of our Forward Planning Folders.

On-Line Live Lessons
Throughout the year, classes take opportunities to participate in on-line events such as Interviews for the Young Engineer Competition and those provided by DigiLearn.
See below for some photos of children taking part in these.

Pupil Leadership Groups at Assembly
We have a number of Pupil Leadership Groups at Lawthorn, who all take a turn at presenting during assembly. All have used out Promethean Board along with presentations that they have either created or edited. Some photos are below.

Safer Internet Day
For the past two years we have a focus on Internet Safety during the week of Safer Internet Day. Pupils participate in activities in class and in 2023 we had a full school competition which was run by the Digital Leaders. See below for email sent to support staff in planning for the day/week. Time during collegiate meeting was also allocated for this. In 2023, our parent drop in, was also on the theme of Internet Safety.

Pupil Focus Group – Digital Technologies Focus
We conducted a pupil focus group as part of our PEF impact plan. Please see attached document which shows pupils reflecting on how ICT is used within their classes to enhance learning: Digital Learning Pupil Focus Group
Digital Leader Club
We have run a Digital Leaders Club the last two sessions. In the 2024 session, the Digital Leaders learned about Micro:bits and then delivered lessons around the classes on this topic. This session, they learned how to programme the Sphero Minis during their afterschool club and are planning on delivering lessons on this. Below are some photos from the Digital Leaders After School Club.
