Welcome to S3 English.

Below you will find homework dates and useful support materials/resources.

HOMEWORK DEADLINES:

Ongoing Throughout the Year – Book Bingo Challenge.  As part of your private, personal reading you need to read at least 4 books (that’s one a term) that fit into 4 different categories on the Book Bingo Card (issued in class and can also be accessed below).

In May, you will do a talk to a small group reviewing these four books.  To help you remember, keep notes on the books as you go – electronically or by hand (record sheet handed out and electronic copy below)

Include within your notes:

  • Summary details of the text – what it’s about/characters/events/theme/message
  • Key aspects you enjoyed
  • Anything you would improve about it
  • Recommended or not and why?

For every extra category/book you  read (up to a maximum of 8) there will be bonuses awarded.  For each of these extra books, you must complete a 150-200 word ‘Amazon-style’ review on the sheet provided (again, electronically or by hand).

A review should give a ‘taste’ of the book and focus on evaluating how good it it so that others can decide whether they would like to read it or not.

Good Luck!
