Good morning to you all. We hope you had a good week last week and enjoyed doing your activities.

We would like to set up another Team meeting this week. It was really great hearing all your news at the last one. This week we would like you to think about something that has made you happy and you can share this with the rest of your class. When you check in on the chat bar, please choose an emoji that best describes how you are feeling.

Reading:     Choose a non -fiction book, this can either be one from home or one from the Oxford Owl website. Read or share it with a parent. Can you think of any questions about your book that you might ask someone?

Writing:     Create a poster or fact sheet to show some of the things you have learnt from your non-fiction book. Remember it needs to include writing and pictures. You can label your pictures to provide more information. Here is an example of what your poster could look like:

Maths:  This week, for maths, we are going to focus on money – making amounts with coins. Using coins, try to make amounts from the table below:

** Moray Sumdog Contest Reminder**

We have entered the two P2 classes into the Moray Sumdog Contest which will start on the 15th of May and finish on the 21st of May.  Sumdog’s questions are based on accuracy and are tailored to each pupil’s level – so everyone has a fair chance of winning. Good luck!

Health and Wellbeing:      This week for PE we are going to do yoga. Here is an example of a video you could do or you could pick your own.

RRS – Article 24 – Definition and Activities

As a part of our Rights Respecting School project, we would like to carry on talking with children about their rights and what they mean. Every week we will focus on a different article. This week we would like you to explore Article 24

Definition:  Article 24 – Health Care – ensures that every child has the right to the best possible health.

Governments must provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food, and a clean environment and education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy.

Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.

Introduction Thinking Question – How many ideas can you think of to help you be healthy?

Possible Answers:

  • Enough Sleep – at least 8 hours
  • Nutritious Food – fruit and vegetables
  • Water – at least a litre a day
  • Good hygiene – keeping clean, particularly your hands
  • Exercise
  • A clean environment
  • Feeling safe, secure and respected
  • Health care – To see a doctor or a nurse when you need to and to be vaccinated against diseases

Below you will find some activities that will help your child understand, demonstrate or show examples of the article. Please choose one activity your child would like to do (or more if you are keen):

  1. Set up an obstacle course and challenge someone in your house to have a go.
  2. Choose 10 items of food from your kitchen, can you sort them into healthy/not so healthy?
  3. Perform one of Miss McNab’s weekly challenges: Miss McNab Twitter .
  4. Create your own dance routine or have a go at this one Trolls Dance .

Science:     For science this week we would like you to explore the 5 senses.

Have a look at this video explaining all the senses and then have a go at the scavenger hunt.

The Five Senses Video

Challenge:    Can you think of any more adjectives (describing words) which you could use to describe some things that you taste or smell? Think about the things that you ate yesterday.

Remember, please don’ t hesitate to get in touch if you need any support or help. Have a great week and hopefully we’ll speak to you on Tuesday.
