P3K Home School Learning 25 May 20 – Week 7

P3K HOME SCHOOL LEARNING 25th MAY 20 – WEEK 7

Hello Everyone

It was lovely to chat to you at our Team meeting the other day 😊 It’s a nice way to remember we are part of an amazing team – P3K!!  Our next one will be on Wednesday 27th at 10.30 and the question you should have a think about is ‘If you were an animal what would you be and why?’ Remember a piece of paper and a pen or pencil!

Here are some lessons and activities for you to complete this week.  Please do not feel you have to complete them all, just whatever feels right for your child and family set up.   Take care everyone and remember to email photos etc.  Can’t wait to see how you get on with your learning.

Lots of love from Mrs Kendrick xx

Topic

I remember you loved learning about Australia in class, especially about the animals, and a few weeks ago we finished it off with some fun activities including making ‘Fairy Bread’.

Now I think we might travel to another continent to do a bit of exploring.  Let’s go to AFRICA!!!

Start off by watching the following online clips

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fuc8thqoe1o

Reading – Read information books or do some research about Africa.  Find out some interesting information about the animals and people who live there. 🐘🦁

Try these 2 activities.  One is an African animal cut and stick task and the other is a comprehension task.  I’m sure you’ll enjoy them both.

Writing – Use all you’ve discovered about Africa to create a poster all about this amazing continent.

It should include:

  • A colourful title
  • A map of Africa
  • Pictures of the places, people and animals – drawings/photos
  • Lots of interesting facts!

Health and Well Being – I know you have been doing lots of scavenger hunts over the past few weeks and you’ve even had a competition with Mrs Kirkman.  Thank you to everyone who took part. Mrs Kirkman will post the winning entry!!

This week I thought you might enjoy doing some Cosmic yoga. 🧘🏼‍♀️ It will help relax your mind.  It’s all about a baby lioness called Lulu who feels frustrated but with positive thinking feels a whole lot better.  I’ve added some mindful colouring sheets for those of you who find them relaxing.

We need to keep our bodies fit and active too, so please also visit Miss McNab’s PE page to find details of the Travel to Tokyo PE challenge.  This is a great way for you to record all the physical activity you are doing.

Health week

We are very excited to announce that Bishopmill Primary School will still be hosting our annual Health Week this year despite the unusual circumstances.  Please visit the new Heath and Wellbeing page on the site for full details of the exciting activities we have to look forward to then!

Numeracy – Keep practising your number skills.  Spend time on Sumdog and Active Learn games will be added. 🧮

We learned about 2D and 3D shapes earlier in the year.  Try these activities to keep your shape recognition sharp

  • Look at the powerpoint below
  • Print out or have a look at the shape mats.

  • Go on a shape walk and record what you see on a piece of paper or take photos. Can you name the shapes?  ⚽💎Have you spotted any new shapes?

Rights Respecting Schools – 👦🏼👧🏼👧🏾🧒🏽As Mrs Kirkman explained last week we will be focusing on an Article of the Week, just like we did in class.  This week we are looking at Article 12 – Every child has the right to express their views and feelings, and to be listened to.

Rights of the Child Parents’ Poster

Activity – Please discuss with an adult in your home or your whole family if you think hunting animals (like the ones in Africa) should be allowed.  Remember to listen to everyone’s ideas because everyone is allowed to say their opinion and thoughts, even if you don’t agree with them!

Other Learning – Art 🎨

Here’s a great art activity.  You can use paints or chalks or pastels and cut out your own African animals in black paper if you can’t print out the ones given.  I think you’ll enjoy it 🦁🐅🦏🦛🐘🌄

Have fun with your learning and take care
