What an amazing week of digital learning at Whinhill! We are so impressed with what has been going on in all of the classes!
This morning we spoke at the assembly sharing some of the great work each class has done. We also presented certificates for ‘Digital Star of the Week’. We also had the hard task of deciding who our ‘Digital Class of the Week’ would be. Our winner is…… P2/1!! We loved hearing all about what Mrs Dougan’s class got up to!
There has also been lots of classes doing more digital things today!
P1, P2 and P7/6 enjoyed using the beebots!
GP1-3 had great fun using the tablets.
Well done Whinhill for such an amazing week! We hope to see lots of digital learning happening in the future too! #WhinhillDigitalLearners
Thursday has been a busy day in Whinhill! We walked through the corridors this afternoon and there was so many exciting things happening!
Primary 1 and 2/1 had a turn using the green screen!
Primary 2 became nature photographers! They took the tablets outside and learned how to take photos of our beautiful flowers!
Primary 4/3 and 5/4 continued working on their projects about reading helping our mental health. They filmed news reports and adverts against the green screen! We can’t wait to see their videos!
P7 used the micro:bits during their ICT lesson to create patterns!
We are looking forward to sharing what we’ve seen going on this week at assembly and giving out our award for the ‘Digital Class of the Week!’
We’re half way through digital learning and we continue to be impressed at all of the digital activities that the Whinhill classes are doing!
Primary 1 showed how good they are at logging into the computer and then went on Education City to play some maths games.
Primary 4/3 and 5/4 have teamed up and started to plan their digital project! They worked in groups to plan a short play or news report to share the message of how important reading is for our mental health! They will be filming tomorrow!
Primary 6 had a go of the green screen!
Well done Whinhill! #WhinhillDigitalLearners
It’s been a super busy digital day in Whinhill! So many classes have been doing some wonderful digital themed learning!
Primary 1 were using the tablets during their writing lesson to create a video story!
Primary 2/1 had a digital morning with the bee bots, laptops, tablets, audio books and the Yoto player. It sounds like they had lots of fun!
Primary 2 learned about micro:bits and coded them to show a love heart!
Primary 3 used the bee bots to support their learning about directions.
Primary 5 used the tablets to research information.
Primary 6 used the beebots and made their own beebot course. They had to code the beebots to follow the route.
Primary 7/6 learned about coding and used the micro:bits and the make code website!
Primary 7 were learning about staying safe online. They created a poster for each class in the school giving them helpful tips about how to use technology safely. They came round all the classes to deliver and talk about the posters!
We are so impressed with all the digital learning going on in the school today! Well done Whinhillers!
Day one of digital learning week and lots of classes were busy doing digital activities!
In P1 and P2/1 the boys and girls were learning all about staying safe on digital devices. They watched a video about Smartie the Penguin and helped him stay safe on his tablet.
P3 went to the ICT suite to type up their animal facts. They experimented with different fonts, sizes , type and colour.
P7 used the bee bots and created their own course for the bee bot to follow!
We are excited to see what happens at Whinhill tomorrow!
Hello we are this year’s Whinhill Digital Leaders! Now we are getting back to normal, we’re excited to be using our blog again!
Next week is Digital Learning Week – Monday the 9th of May to Friday the 13th of May. In this committee we have lots planned! For example: BeeBots, MicroBits, tablets, green screens, coding websites etc. From next week we will be going around all of the classes checking in on what digital learning you have been doing that week and asking you questions. If you are curious what our names are they are: Max, Ollie L, Taylor, Lucy, Brandon, Gabriel, Kyle and Ollie J. We are so excited because we have not been able to do anything like this ever since Covid started – two years ago.
As we are going around the classes next week, the Digital Leaders will be choosing a ‘Digital Class of the Week’. Each class teacher will also choose a ‘Digital Star of the Week’. We can’t wait to start this project and see what all of you are learning!
Stay Digital – Digital Leaders
Last week was Cyber Scotland Week 2020. This was the perfect opportunity for our pupils to learn about staying safe online.
At the start of the week we visited all the classes to let them know, and asked teachers to plan a lesson for their class.
We revisited them this week, and we created a video to show all the things we learned!
What do you think?
Hi everyone, we are the Digital Leaders at Whinhill Primary School in Greenock. We are starting this blog as a way of sharing our Whinhill Digital journey.
We have created a wall display outside the computer suite to let everyone know who we are and what we do. We will also be writing blog posts on here to share all the wonderful ways we use digital technologies at Whinhill. As digital leaders it is our job to help pupils and teachers access and use the wide range of resources available.
We started our journey by creating a survey for staff and pupils to find out how they used technology in school and what they would like us to help them develop. We used this survey to create an action plan which will also help us to achieve our Digital Schools Award. We can’t wait to show you how we, as digital leaders, are helping everyone be #WhinhillDigitalLearners!
