Stand Up to Racism Holocaust Memorial Day events took place in Glasgow on Tuesday evening with with Danielle Bett from the Scottish Council of Jewish Communities, Mohamed Asif from the Scottish Afghan Society and Henry Maitles, UWS professor and author of Understanding and Teaching the Holocaust, all speaking. The meeting started with a moving film made by Unite the trade union following the participation of some of its members on a trip to Krakow and Auschwitz, highlighting the need for more education.

The growth of antisemitism has gone hand in hand with the rise of the far-right, Islamophobia and anti-migrant rhetoric. We have seen attacks on Jews and synagogues terrorised in Germany, the US and in Britain too.

We need a movement to oppose all forms of racism.
