During my maths input last week I discovered how common the pre-conceptions of maths are. I also learned about different techniques I can use in the classroom to relieve maths anxiety in the pupils and my teaching ability. The session also allowed me to learn some activities I could do with the class to ensure no one feels singled out or put on the spot to answer questions.
The session also made me reflect on my own maths experiences in school, I was able to use these memories to think about how I want to teach my pupil’s about maths. Following the session I now feel more able to take a class in a maths lesson, by using the techniques highlighted in this session.
