Knowledge

Science/Environmental Education:

  • Much of my prior knowledge for this placement will be coming from school and university modules. Unfortunately, I have not had much experience in science and therefore the only experience I have is from biology in school and the STEM module which we had in second semester of MA2.

Team Building:

  • Much of my knowledge of team building, communication, cooperation etc., comes from experiences out with University. For example, throughout my Duke of Edinburgh award, I constantly worked as part of a team, and therefore I know what attributes it takes to create a successful team. Moreover, from volunteering at my local Rainbows unit (1st Annan Rainbows) I have acquired knowledge and experience in team work, cooperation and communication.

Personal Attributes

I believe that I work well in situations which push me out of my comfort zone, and where I must adapt to my surroundings. This will allow me to excel in my placement, as I will be pushed outside of my comfort zone with this placement, and be faced with various challenges which I must overcome to succeed.

Furthermore, I want to use my team working skills to create bonds with the fellow staff at the outdoor school to ensure that we can work well together, and provide the best experience for the children.

Moreover, although I am not overly confident in science/environmental education, I want to approach this placement with enthusiasm to ensure that I can get the most out of it, and provide the children with a positive experience.
