Education Reform consultation – Scottish Professional Learning Network Response

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills announced on 22 June 2021 the intention to replace the SQA and consider a new specialist agency for both curriculum and assessment while also taking forward reform to Education Scotland, including removing the function of inspection from the agency. Professor Ken Muir, University of West of Scotland, was appointed to act as an independent advisor to the Scottish Government to consider and advise on the implementation of the reform that will consider all functions currently delivered by both SQA and Education Scotland.

The consultation will run from 30 September until 26 November 2021 and the information provided will support Prof Muir in his considerations.

The SPLN has contributed to a wide range of consultations previously and we continue to believe that an important instrument of the group is to provide a network response to systemic consultations.  With this in mind, we have planned a stand-alone network consultation event for all our members to allow for some professional discussion leading to a collated response which could be sent to Professor Muir’s consultation on behalf of the SPLN.

The event will be held on Wednesday 17 November 4-5.30pm

If you would like to attend please register using the Eventbrite link and further information will be sent to you. For those unable to attend we will also gather information using a Padlet to support feedback for collation. Further information on the consultation can be found here:

Thanks for your support and we hope to see you on 17 November.

Regards

Lesley
